The Paula Deen Comeback Spectacle continues: The latest development, a People cover story in which the celeb chef compares herself to Michael Sam, the former University of Missouri football player who famously came out as gay in advance of the NFL Draft.
Here's how the Wrap quotes her from the story:
I feel like embattled or disgraced will always follow my name. Its like that black football player who recently came out He said, I just want to be known as a football player. I dont want to be known as a gay football player. I know exactly what hes saying.
It seems that the embattled, disgraced Deen does not in fact know exactly what Sam is saying. Or does she? Can anyone really be this obtuse? Even for Deen, it's a stretch.
As anyone would expect, people have jumped all over this story. Here's Grub Street's theory: Deen's just Donald Trump-ing everyone now, dropping nonsense like this because she knows it'll get a rise out of people. Like Trump, Paula Deen the caricature has fully overtaken Paula Deen the person. When she starts calling her new $20 million restaurant "classy," we'll know this is the case.
She lost money because she was exposed for the nasty person she is. The woman she was abusing was white, not black. She treated the people who worked for her like filth. I don't know about you, but I don't like people like that who treat people bad, whether they are black or white. And she treated both badly.
Freepers are always saying that all racists are Democrats, But when a Democrat exposes her as a racist, they want to make he a patron saint. And I do believe that she is a racist too. Making black employees use a different bathroom, and her weird racist wedding fantasy. BTW, it was the Obama who spread the myth she hadn't been racist for 35 years. That was not indicated at all in the transcripts.
I catch Diners Drive-ins and Dives alot but thats about it. I really like that Pioneer Woman show. Reminds me of home.
Zactly
She’s always gonna have detractors.
Hell, I don’t like her food and her overly affectatious accent. Sure, it’s real but, making it drip?
and her food is trailer park, white trash.
Ain’t no secret why someone has diabetes who eats that stuff all the time.
Worse than French food. How many sticks of butter is it really gonna take to make a meal?
White bread is just sugar in a sandwich.
And sugar is best drunk from a bottle of liquor or wine.
Don’t hate her though and I’m sure is just one of the nicest people ever.
And I would eat her food once in a while or maybe every other year.
She’s killing herself and there’s no reason for it.
Just cook nice lady.
Diners is another one of her favs and then some show with “cut” its the name where three snobby judges judge the cooking skills of wannabe chefs. Good eats was one of my favorites.
And Iron Chef where they slice and dice some animal or fish while it is still alive. My wife didn't like the show after that. Lol.
We were regulars. But not anymore.
Considering the way this woman groveled at the feet of the left (her own people) and begged to be forgiven, I have absolutely zero sympathy. She made a spectacle of herself.
“I is what I is”......maybe she talks like that, but I don’t know any other white Southerner who does.
Didn’t their mamas ever tell them, “Your face will freeze like that!”?
If I were Paula there wouldn’t be a black working within any of my stores....just to be safe.
Might hurt someone’s feelings she asked someone to fry up some chicken.
She wouldn’t do that because she believes blacks were born to serve whites.
You would not like my house around supper time.
Sure I would.
If I were visiting, I’d probably think it was awesome.
I just can’t eat that all the time.
Besides, I don’t think think you would attenuate your accent for effect.
What are you cooking Sunday?
