Michael Sam who is hoping to become the first openly gay player in NFL history made a good impression during his media press conference on Saturday. But on on the field Monday he couldn't do the same thing. Sam needed to show he has more athleticism, but the suddenly scrutinized Missouri defensive end struggled to do that.

Brutha gots to learn how to “pucker & clench” when lifting weights.
Everybody wanted him to be a tight end, but, well...
Cletus had him projected as an early round TE pick, too!
To quote George Takei, “Oh! My!
Who cares?
He might still try for wide receiver.
He didn't get where he is today by puckering and clenching.
“You know what will happen...”
Cry like a little girl?
Would we even be hearing about this guy if it weren’t for his self proclaimed homosexuality?
Not with a 4.91 in the 40 yard dash.
I watched the combine - he didn’t stand out and as a Mizzou fan, I was disappointed. I want to see all of our guys do well. I’m sure nerves are terrible at that venue. The commentators said that anyone choosing him would have to decide just where he fit in as he did not have the size or skill set for any one position. He is however the SEC co-champion or whatever for Defense and I know he had some great plays for us.
Guess he was just too distracted by all the hunks at the combine....or ESPN and SI’s twenty-four hour coverage of him.
He might still try for wide receiver.
Not with a 4.91 in the 40 yard dash.
Not exactly what I meant!
(he’s the one that made an issue of his sexual orientation)
I hope they don’t play him on windy Sundays. His butt will be whistling like a teakettle.
Would this guy’s combine performance rate even a passing mention, let alone all these stories, if he weren’t openly gay? Of course not. His primary football “skill” is his purportedly bringing “diversity” to the NFL.
Wasn’t this guy all-conference or something? Interesting given it appears everyone except the general public already knew he was gay. Seems maybe a set up to get the gay player out there. Next up, The President.
Like so many individuals in these media storms, I have no ill will for the guy and wish him success. What makes me cringe is the accompanying agenda. This guy seems like a good person. He’s clearly an accomplished athlete, and from my view, he made the announcement with good intentions. He knew it would likely become public during this process because he had shared it with his entire college team. He got in front of the story, and I do not fault him for that.
The ESPN hyperfocus and tweets/interviews of all the of the left wing annoys me, and the media storm around the draft and during camp is going to be obnoxious. Aside from that, I don’t see him as a glory hound like the NBA guy who announced on his way out of the league purely for self-advancement.
RACISM!!!! No, wait. Wrong one.
HOMOPHOBIA!!!! There, that’s better.
I don’t know what it is about NFL but they like to push their “special” football players on us. First Tebow and now this clown. They suck as players but get all the attention for everything but football. It is crazy and why football is turning into a joke.
