Rematch of the epic gold medal game from Vancouver.
Winner will face Sweden in the gold medal game.
Let's hope the USA can get its revenge.
Well....s**t.
USA Hockey...
All Swedish, no Finnish.
Oh well, hopefully a Bronze.

Anyone else notice how great is is to watch a hockey game in just about 2 hours..no endless stoppages for commercials...it's a totally different game.
Well done, Canada! One more game, finish the Swedes and bring back the gold where it belongs!
I’m happy, Jamie Benn got the goal.
Go Stars!
We’ll take the gold, you keep the beeber!
But you’re still stuck with Bryan Adams.
After the selection committee decided to build an NHL team for an international rink they were toast. Callahan and Brown instead of Okposo and Ryan. The 2 guys in had zero shots. I blame management all the way through.
Who is this Bryan Adams of whom you speak? I haven’t heared of him for many years. Being of a certain age, he probably spends six months of the year in a warm climate, something Canada lacks in the winter. My guess is that those six months are likely in North America but south of the 49th parallel. Your ‘gain’ for those six months.
Now why did the US get Canada in the Semis?
I’ve been told i wasn’t plain spoken enough. I rooted for Canada. I cannot tolerate the thought of Poile, Burke or Holmgren involved with the team getting any sort of medal after the absolutely ignorant way they went about building this team. Only by not medaling can i even hope they’re never again involved in USA hockey.
Go Finland in the Bronze.
No idea. As I cancelled cable last year, I’ve not seen much of the Olympics on the internet. Personally, I would have preferred a gold medal game between Canada and the US, like the women’s hockey.
Surprisingly, the Great Britain won the ice hockey gold medal in 1936!
And we’re also stuck with Celine Dion playing Vegas.
Actually, this brings up another point that hasn't gotten a lot of attention in these Olympics except for some interesting commentary about the Russians. These Olympic teams aren't really teams at all, and I think it has showed a lot in these particular Olympics. When the U.S. won the gold medal in hockey back in 1980, the team had begun training and practicing in June of 1979 -- nine months earlier. They then went on a long tour of exhibition games against mostly AHL and European teams, starting in September 1979.
I think some of the low-scoring games in this tournament reflect an inherent weakness of a selection process that basically cobbles a team together just a few weeks before the Olympics and doesn't allow the players to develop any chemistry at all.
The teams were placed in a tournament bracket for the quarterfinal round based on how they finished in the preliminary round. The U.S. was seeded #2 and Canada #3, so they ended up on the same “half” of the tournament bracket — opposite the Sweden (#1) and Finland (#4) side.
Some years ago now Adams moved to England and has based his career there since.
Bingo !! NO pros in the Olympics. Period.
Some teams in hockey have a great many players who have played on national teams together. As to your 1980 point that Russian national team had been together even longer than team USA by several years.
I just have an issue with a selection committee picking players on prior merit, aged merit if you will, for an event 6 months in the future without caring who played how well in the 4 months of season before the selection had to be in. If it’s a meaningless all star game that comes around once a year and someone gets in on rep and a better player has to wait a year its not the end of the world. This was to represent the nation in an event that occurs every 4 years. They didn’t have the luxury to make lazy picks. They did however and the laziest picks were the weakest links.
