Our society is neutering boys of their maleness at a young age, while the lack of people with military experience in important positions is a recipe for disaster, claims Camille Paglia, the controversial lesbian author and social critic.
Self-described dissident feminist Paglia, 66, believes that attempts to deny the biological distinctions between men and women is to blame for the much that is wrong with modern society.
'What you're seeing is how a civilization commits suicide she told the Wall Street Journal.
Paglia, a professor at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, is well known for her critical views on many aspects of modern culture, including feminism and liberalism.
She recently spoke out in support of Duck Dynasty star Phil Robertson, supporting his right to express homophobic views.
In a democratic country, people have the right to be homophobic as well as they have the right to support homosexuality as I one hundred percent do.
'If people are basing their views against gays on the Bible, again, they have a right of religious freedom there.' she told Laura Ingrahams radio show last week.
Paglia, who is promoting her latest book, Glittering Images: A Journey Through Art From Egypt To Star Wars, told the WSJ that the diminished status of military service in people in important positions is a big mistake.....

'The enemy of my enemy is my friend' kinda thing.
Camille Paglia doesn’t forget where she came from, as so many do.
How do you think the wussy word “Man Cave” entered the vernacular?
When I grew up, it was simply known as “the den”.
Putting the word “Man” in front of it surrenders all of the rest of the territory. “Cave” also implies regressive neanderthal mentality.
she's right of course....
too few really strong men in the military, and the ones leading us now are no more than perfumed little princesses who keep promoting themselves...
why else would they allow open homos to be in the same barracks as normal young men...
we recently had a friend and co volunteer in our wildlife conservation group pass on...he was older....
I keep thinking to myself..."how are we ever going to replace these guys"....we don't have the young men of virtue and knowhow and guts we did even 30 yrs ago...you know the type of man....the type who wears boots when he's working...knows how to fix things and how to use tools...able to get along with other men without it being a competition....willing to do free work for a good cause...
I am proud to say my husband is such a man.....but there's getting to be too few of him....
Not my grandson! If he has anything to say about it. It's a strange thing. It's almost like he knows what he's up against. 3 going on 4.
We all watch the same TV shows, talk like women and misbehave like little boys... isn’t that appealing?
“we”
You say that like it's a bad thing. But you know, it was the Cro-Magnons ( us ) that did the cave thing. So how about a PROgressive CRO-MAGNON mentality, eh? WOOF!
She has been open about being a lesbian for decades now. When she first rode to fame over 20 years ago now [ with her controversial book Sexual Personae ] she mentioned this. Paglia is part of the Left with the only difference that she respects the Right to have a place at the table. She was very vocal about the hijacking of the feminist movement by Steinem & others whom she refers to as Stalinist. What is refreshing about Paglia is that she is a thinking feminist & not the cookie cutter left wing controlled type often witnessed. Recently she has lauded Eminem over Gaga as being more true to art. She is an art critic after all.
OK, some validity to this, but don’t forget that men don’t actually require permission to be men. That’s kinda the point. It helps if they’re taught properly, but I think a lot of it is, or should be, instinctive. And the response to someone who doesn’t think you should be masculine is ignoring them or “F You” depending on the situation.
By the time that boy's out of elementary school, he'll be force fed estrogen until he breaks, or he'll be led away in cuffs by Social Services for insisting on being male.
This country is a constitutional republic, not a democracy.
At least, it used to be a constitutional republic. Now we’re on the fast track to Communism.
First they castrate American manhood, then complain that no one any longer has any balls.
America’s liberated women in a nutshell.
I guess if women like this really got their way, if they ever felt like getting pregnant, all they need to do is ask permission from the government first to do so...
You know, it’ll turn into a visit to the local pregnancy office staffed by the cast offs of the DMV, Walmart greeters and TSA rejects...You go there, fill out a form, take a number, wait 4-6 hours, get an interview, be told of ALL the options to NOT get pregnant, and then...
Be able to choose from a library of questionable pictures and bio’s of some “hunka-sauruses” that they’ll tell you have made “deposits” at there facility...
Then a HHS certified “doctor” will artificially inseminate you and BOOM!!! you’ll be pregnant...
At which point, you will be asked per the deals in your “Pregnancy Package” deal for your scheduled oil changes, gender determination benchmark, hair color, intelligence, genetic attributes...
And if somehow there is a problem with the “fetus”, as part of this “deal” you will be urged to abort this “thing” and be given a discounted rate on a “re-insemination” clause in the contract....
Whatever happened to the good ole days where two people fell in love, actually got married, did the “wild thang” and created life in the traditional manner???
No wonder there has to be a low, overall sperm count in this country...There are not enough of us real men with cajones to sustain the genetic toughness that was once a dominant feature of the male gender in this country until recently...
Sorry if I went a little off the beaten path this morning, but I just feel this is yet one more thing that is proven how far gone, and destructive to its very existence, this country has taken its course...
I think what Paglia is saying is men need a ‘right of passage’ to know they have become men. For many men, military experience serves that purpose.
Electing men who have not had any military experience or some other life altering event which makes them become men, is to allow men who do not know who or what they are to govern. And so we get weeping politicians whose words and actions are not much more that the whimsical actions of a young boy ... and so are malleable by whatever the latest fashion, political view point, or zeitgeist which comes along.
Man Cave doesn’t surrender the rest of the territory as you state. At least in a real home with real men. Not sure how you came up with that analogy and continuing on I guess the “den” was the only room for men when you grew up.
I have a man cave and proud of it. It’s one of my garages and actual work gets done, Harley’s, guns, cars, TV, stereo and a large supply of beers in the fridge and when we have guest over, they all end up in it eventually vice the normal kitchen crowd regardless of the season.
They are being raised up in conservative homes right now. They should be hatched here in just avfew years but be careful what you wished for because they will be unseating you feminists (who everyone is tired of listening to) and and removing your co-horts (the LGBT groups) from power.
I guessed it was Paglia from the title. I don’t always agree with her, but she’s a fun read and at least intellectually honest, especially compared to the general standard of the left in general and feminists in particular.
Pot, meet kettle. Does she really understand the problem, or is she trying to sell another book? SHE, AS A LESBIAN, IS PART OF THE PROBLEM.
You sure can tell Obama never served in the military.
