HORROR! Cop instantly shoots, kills teen who answered door holding video game controller

A Georgia family is in shock following the death of their 17-year-old son, who was accidentally killed by a police officer who believed the video game controller he was holding was a gun, according to the family’s lawyer.

Christopher Roupe of Euharlee, Georgia heard a knock at the door of the family’s home last Friday night. Upon opening the door, he was immediately shot by a female police officer.

Roupe was pronounced dead upon arrival at a local hospital.

The officer broke down it tears upon realizing her mistake, according to The New York Daily News.

She had been making a probation-related visit to the home. She thought Roupe was holding a gun, according to a statement from the police department.

Cole Law, the family’s attorney, said he believes that the officer did mistake Roupe’s video game controller for a weapon. Roupe was holding a remote controller for the Nintendo Wii when he opened the door, according to Law.

Standard-issue Wii controllers are white cylinders, but specialty controllers shaped like guns do exist. It is not yet known what type of controller Roupe possessed. (RELATED: Update: Texas teen faces 8 years in prison over Facebook comment)

Neighbors confirmed that Roupe had a Wii controller, not a gun, according to Law.

“The eyewitnesses on the scene clearly state that he had a Wii controller in his hand,” said Law, according to WSB-TV. “He heard a knock at the door. He asked who it was, there was no response so he opened the door and upon opening the door he was immediately shot in the chest.”

Roupe had plans to enlist in the Marines after finishing high school. He was involved in the ROTC program at his high school.

The officer has been placed on administrative leave while the police department investigates the matter. The family will likely file suit against the department.

And if the police shoot them, they deserved to be shot.

There is a similar thread running where the cops killed an 80 year old man in his bed because he was supposed to have a meth lab in his house. It was at 59 responses and no jackboot worshiper has defended the cops. And up till now I have not read one post by the jackboot lickers defending the cop.

So ...what is the name of the cop?

Why is that not public knowledge?

Small-town cops aren’t your friends, either...in fact, in many cases; they are worse.

My husband, who’s in the business, has seen that the more “intellectuals” they hire, the more clueless the department becomes.

Intellectuals? In police departments? LOL

Right, let's get more Neanderthals in blue uniforms.

I’m no cop hater as many here are.

Cop haters are cop supporters who have been abused by the police.

“The officer broke down it tears upon realizing her mistake, according to The New York Daily News.”

As well you should. You MURDERED a citizen. This borders on first degree premeditated murder. No doubt she will walk free for “feeling threatened.”

I am sure there are a few good cops out there. I know a few. But I still don’t trust a single one of them. They have carte blanche permission, the means, and the protection to kill. “That cell phone looked like a gun.” “He gave a menacing look and I felt threatened.”

A very powerful interview I watched was of the McLennan county sheriff in Waco Texas in the aftermath of the Branch Davidians slaughter. The Sheriff knew the Davidians and offered to walk in to the compound and talk to David Koresh. The ATF and FBI refused and we all know the result. A good cop, the Sheriff, was over ruled by agents playing army and the whole lot of them were massacred.

Don’t get me started on Ruby Ridge. Just a few miles south of me on the mainland......

You have no idea how sad that picture makes me. This is what justifies your death to the government’s armed agents.

i wil tell you why.

because when officers “feel threatened” - their phrasing - they pull weapons are fire.

that phrase is subjective and varies from officer to officer as to what makes them “feel threatened”.

imo far more regular situations, far more often, make female cops feel threatened, than male cops. if you are a average 35-40 year old 130 pound female a lot more situations and people are going to make you feel more threatened than a 35-40 year old 180 pound male, and on average generally taller, officer.

that is why. female cops go for their guns a lot more than male cops, for a lot less. and this case is yet another that confirms it.

Cop haters are cop supporters who have been abused by the police.

In some cases, perhaps. But there are many here who just have an irrational hatred for authority. That's their business, thus I never engage them. I know many in LE who are nothing like the cops the rabid haters speak of. I don't engage them on that either.

For him to have been immediately shot, she would have had to have had her gun already drawn, expecting trouble.
