Pushbutton Automobile--The Medallions (1956)
The Medallions did a few car songs, 59 Buick was one of their biggest hits, they even did a song about a Volvo!. Perhaps they gave the inspiration to the Beach Boys, Jan and Dean, etc. for 409, Dead Man's Curve, Little Deuce Coupe, etc.

That early episode with littering showed me the hipster fags and mandal chicks writing that drivel were not there
I would think that the level of sexual harassment that went on in business exec's offices back then was exaggerated. Surely these guys would've kept their horniness in check, at least to some extent, if for no other reason they would rather not deal with the fathers, brothers, boyfriends, husbands of these cute secretaries they may have the hots for. Defending the honor of the "womenfolk" meant something back then. Thanks feminazis.

I love the Charger ad but I’ll be damned if I’d ever let her drive it ;’)

Perhaps the Medallions did inspire the Beach Boys and Jan & Dean. The Medallions were from Los Angeles and the Beach Boys and Jan & Dean were from nearby Hawthorne and Westwood, respecitively. The Medallions were popular in the LA area as were several artists on their label, Dootone.

I’ve seen Vernon Green, the Medallions’ lead singer perform on two or three occasions. He would walk with a cane—I heard that he had been crippled by an attack of poliomyelitis. The last time I saw him perform, he was in a wheelchair. This was in the late 1990’s, shortly before his death in 2000.

Which leads to another question. Anybody remember HIM? (he had a bit role in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum) :-D

I was a young woman in those days and cannot ever being offended by an ad like that——and don’t know any woman who was.

They were ads. We knew they were just ads,and didn’t care what they said.

We had good lives and political correctness didn’t exist.

They were good times.

The Subaru ad is silly. Why would you want a tame car?

Subaru... 'Cause I'm a wuss.

The rest...meh.

Mad Men....never watched it, but I had a feeling just from the commercials. The only thing that would interest me would be the fashions.

Even The Walking Dead had to go and introduce a lesbian character.

Humility....I believe it all goes back to that. As far back as Eve, when she didn’t want to listen to God or her husband, but became self-oriented.

I even brought that up, but it didn’t go over well.

How long before she tells God she is called to be a priestess? Probably soon.

Interesting history from the Dootone studios. Eath Angel by The Penguins, the Drifters recorded their early stuff there. Also Red Foxx’s first album, considered “blue comedy”, still a little edgy and risqué 60 yrs later.

A '56 Chevy? Nice, but for real class, a '55 has better lines.

'57s are for guys who want to look nostalgic, but want to be like every other hep-cat out there.

BTW, my dad always said that 4-doors were for squares.

The really cool guys always had 2-doors.

Interesting history from the Dootone studios. Eath Angel by The Penguins...

Earth Angel was a perennial bestseller in the Los Angeles area for decades--it might even be a contender for National Anthem of LA. Another contender is this answer that came out six years later and was also a perennial bestseller:

Angel Baby--Rosie & the Originals (1960)
