He was also on the losing team in that 1980 Miracle on Ice game, and went on to be an assistant coach for 4 NHL teams.
Probably why Vlad picked him. Some combo of revenge for 1980 and a guy who should know the NHL quite intimately.

No, but I did see them interview 79 year old Vladimir Posner about their loss to the US.

I recall hearing an interview with the the head of the Russian Hockey Federation.
He said, "When I was growing up, there were three horror films I saw from the West; A Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday The 13th and Miracle On Ice."
