They are just enjoying their new found freedom.
They must have finally figured out what “FICA” means on their shrunken pay checks and have decided not to finance the elderly by working when they don’t have to.
Well this works two ways for the Dems:
First it provides some cover for their failed economic policies.
Second they can now spend billions of dollars on programs to encourage teenagers to work.
They’ve absorbed the lesson of Obama’s remade America: Don’t work and be a chump. Live a life of leisure, let your parents support you, and let the government take from others for your future needs, and all that it asks it that you vote Rat.
I remember when was 14. Every Saturday I’d get dressed in a long sleeved shirt and tie and visit every grocery store for miles around. I’d talk to the managers and get turned down. I was very discouraged as I’d made dozens of visits to the same stores. Then, one Saturday I walked into a store where several people hadn’t shown up for work. The place was in chaos with the manager and all the office people running a cash registers. I walked up and started my spiel and the manager said, “Can you start now?” I grabbed a bag and started packing. I worked five hours that night. I became that store’s longest serving employee; until I graduated from college.
Persistence.
I remember growing up and my brother couldn't get his hands on money fast enough.
In the summer he loved to go and caddy! He was very underweight for his height and age. (He was hyper thyroid and SO incredibly thin and underweight, that when he was drafted for Viet Nam... they wouldn't take him...BUT he'd hike out to the local golf course every day and caddy(12 miles distant). Sometimes he'd get home after dark. But he'd always show us a wad of cash and he had a devilish glee in doing that.
He saved it and ALWAYS had money... at a very young age. He got and never lost the habit of succeeding and knowing how to get money! The joke about him was; ‘he's like a cat and even if you throw him off a 10 story building, he'll land on his feet!’
He laughed at other kids who didn't (couldn't) figure it out, and had to get money from their parents.
One word: Welfare
The implication here is there are jobs in the Obama economy - its our fault the unemployment rate is so high.
This just shows that kids aren’t utterly stupid. Or at least not stupid enough to become “wage slaves”, with no hope for advancement, improvement, savings, or anything else involved in the “pursuit of happiness”.
Other things that go parallel with this are that kids are not buying cars they cannot afford. More and more adult children are living with their parents instead of foolishly mortgaging terribly inflated homes, or using half their net income to pay rent in an economy apartment. After half of their gross income has already been taken away to feed the bloated beast of Washington, D.C.
These kids are smart enough to only invest in a future worth investing in. Too many avaricious vultures want too much of their prosperity, to the point where walking down the street, the first armed robber takes your money, the next one takes your shoes, the next one takes your clothes, and the one after that both beats you and tells you that next time, you had better have something they can steal, or they will beat and maybe murder you.
It’s just not worth it to walk down that street anymore.
Cool, dude! We finally have an excuse my dad will have to buy!
It's a crime. Back in the 1960s and 1970s MA was where a person who wanted to work was always able to get by.
Well when you consider that the jobs most would expect to start out in are being held by middle-aged Mexicans and laid-off 50 year olds then it’s understandable.
“The unemployment rate has been declining, in part because of a declining labor participation rate.”
Not “in part”, but entirely. There has not been an increase in employment in any measure.
They keep hearing how there are no jobs out there, and don’t waste time looking. King Barack the First’s plan is working, Comrades!
My kids can attest to that. I have two adult daughters. Both moved back to where we used to live before the economy forced me to move several states away.
One just moved there in December. She got a temp job at an insurance office within about 3 weeks. She was then hired part time at Krispy Kreme. On day one, she decided she didn’t like it and had an interview at Walgreen, where she was hired for 30 hours a week. She told htem she was compelled to give two weeks notice at KK. The Walgreen manager was very impressed by that.
It ain’t hard if you try.
