105.9 FM is the local classic rock station in south Florida.....just a few minutes ago, I was bored with everything else on the radio and hit that station...just in time to hear the beginning of the hit "Money for Nothing"...
Imagine my surprise when the lyric got to: "That little faggot with the earring and the mink coat, Yeah, buddy, thats his own hair. That little faggot got his own jet airplane. That little faggot is a millionaire!"
Funny lines....but the dreaded "slur" was clipped out! Absurd.
Anyway, since I RARELY listen to music radio, I was wondering if this song has been suffering from the politically correct hacks for a long time? Or is it just a phenomenon of the rabidly liberal Miami media?

The faggots in Canada got their panties in a twist over it, so the faggots in the Canadian government made it illegal.
Meanwhile in Canada, liberal support for the fast growing Muslim population stays strong, since Muslims prefer the phrase “death sentence” to the word “faggot.”

Funny thing (to me) is the classic rock stations here in San Antonio are picking up on this one again.

Here is an idea: teach your boy not to call another boy names. ;-)Yep, I do. Some names are worse than others, though.

Coincidentally, I recently downloaded the song from iTunes. The versions on Brothers in Arms and the collection Sultans of Swing are edited. The long-playing 8-minute version on Private Investigations is not edited out. ITunes does not specify which versions are edited. The edits are just mumbling words, no effort to really blend. No, it's not a nice word, but it's an accurate representation of the kind of conversation warehouse workers might engage in.
Ironic seeing that the filth in rap songs is many times worse.

He doesn't want to get caught up in any of the funky (sh!t) stuff going down in the city.

The radio censors Taylor Swift’s song “Picture to Burn,” to:
“So go and tell your friends that I’m obsessive and crazy
That’s fine I’ll tell mine that you’re gay!” The substitute something for the second line.

Attempting to sanitize speech is a never ending and futile job. You're absolutely right. I'm just tired of casual vulgarity that permeates everything in our culture. Yeah, even in the 80's, "faggot" was pretty mild. But now, every other word that comes out of the mouths of college students is some sort of profanity. I'm glad there are still some standards being enforced, even if it's a losing battle.

I dont want my kid calling another boy a faggot because he learned it on the radio. You should stay away from all schools then. This word is on the top ten list of most used words in most middle schools.

Actually, I’ve noticed the song has been edited for some time. It’s only on Youtube that I hear all the lyrics.
