Law enforcement officials in Texas announced this evening that they found a body believed to be that of a woman who went missing nearly a month ago after returning from a two-year trip around the world.
Leanne Hecht Bearden, 33, was last seen January 17 when she told her in-laws in Garden Ridge near San Antonio that she was going for a walk. She has not been heard from since.
The woman and her husband, Joshua Bearden, were staying with his parents after returning from their travels earlier this month.
City Police Chief Donna O'Conner said just after 1pm Thursday, they received a call from a Garden Ridge homeowner saying that he had found a body in a wooded area near his residence, CNN reported.
Officers who responded to the scene came upon what is now believed to be Leanne Bearden's body.
Police are not disclosing the cause of death pending the results of the autopsy that will be performed on the remains.....

Yep.

It has been very cold in Texas the last month.
I’ve never smelled it and I hope I never do.

Some history from articles at the time of going missing.

What we’re all thinking is that she just went on a walk to clear her head, to think about things,
but it does seem out of character for her to run off because she just doesn’t want to disappoint
anybody, Rebekah Sculley, the missing
woman’s sister-in-law, said Monday. She’s just a family pleaser. She wouldn’t want to cause
anybody trouble.

Leanne Bearden was having some difficulties adjusting after the worldwide excursion, according
to her sister-in-law.
It was kind of a hard transition for her, so she’s having some anxiety about it, but nothing
that seemed like she was just going to run off, Sculley said.

Leanne Bearden and her husband were the only people in the house around 1 p.m. Friday when she said
she was going for a walk, Sculley said. Josh Bearden called police four hours later to report his
wife had not returned, Sculley said.

Only when my dogs go out and roll in a dead animal. Bad enough.
It’s been very cold in Aus/San Antone the last couple weeks... deep-freezing every night and around 40o the daily high..buzzards would be the most likely to pick up the scent.
True
We have 6 acres, 5 of them woods. The neighbor came and asked to look for his Angus, that was on our property. I had no idea there was a steer running around, to bad....
Angus you say? Really.... (Full freezer). :)

Thoughts...why take credit cards and power bars if you intend to kill yourself?

Search teams deployed on foot, on horseback and on ATVs, Pyles said. A DPS helicopter scoured the area by air, zooming over the command center and the surrounding neighborhoods.
Twelve K-9 teams also joined the search, including human cadaver dogs and dogs that can pick up live scents, Pyle said.
All this and they miss a body hanging in a tree a few blocks away.
You did notice the question mark, right?
Deport, are y’all having mountain lions moving into urban areas like we are in Austin?
I don’t think the cause of death has been released yet. Unclear if she was killed by someone, or if she took her own life, or if she had some type of accident or medical issue, or confrontation with some animal.

One article I read and I can’t cite it specifically indicated they didn’t search
the area where she was found because that had been searched by the family. I don’t know
how accurate that was.
A week after her disappearance, more than 100 volunteers from Texas Search and Rescue
and the Texas State Guard Maritime Regiment joined a massive search that also
included about four dozen law enforcement officials from Comal County, the Department
of Public Safety, the Texas Rangers, the FBI and other agencies.
Greg Pyles, CEO of Texas Search and Rescue, said Thursday that the area where her body
was found was not included in the 23-square-mile multiagency search. Bearden’s
body was found in a neighborhood that searchers understood had already been covered
by the family, he said.
Yeah, but what would FR do for articles, then?
Not that I’m aware of. Those will move closer into surburan areas for ease
of food and become less wary of people.
