Law enforcement officials in Texas announced this evening that they found a body believed to be that of a woman who went missing nearly a month ago after returning from a two-year trip around the world.
Leanne Hecht Bearden, 33, was last seen January 17 when she told her in-laws in Garden Ridge near San Antonio that she was going for a walk. She has not been heard from since.
The woman and her husband, Joshua Bearden, were staying with his parents after returning from their travels earlier this month.
City Police Chief Donna O'Conner said just after 1pm Thursday, they received a call from a Garden Ridge homeowner saying that he had found a body in a wooded area near his residence, CNN reported.
Officers who responded to the scene came upon what is now believed to be Leanne Bearden's body.
Police are not disclosing the cause of death pending the results of the autopsy that will be performed on the remains.....

I know the police had them on that big Saturday search — atleast a half a dozen separate teams of canines — .
They searched in the direction toward the school based upon that being the direction she was reported to be walking when she left the house.
But one would think that they would have started those canines at the house and let them follow the scent to wherever it went.
I looked up the stats for Canada and hanging for women was higher that I would have thought. Something like 30% of all suicides for females. It doesn’t break it down by where or what methods.
My comment was only anecdotal. The males hung themselves in the basement or garage usually. I had a relative (distant and in the long past) that did it that way.
only if they got past the pack of hounds.
Hope you’re not right. But I wouldn’t be at all surprised if that’s how it plays out.
otta cut that rope first
I don’t think either of them were very anxious to return to Denver.
They left there 2 years ago and their house there — only 600 sq ft — was rented out until May.
Looking for a job there was also a major hurdle.
oh you mean the skunks hounding this guy
I looked up the suicide stats as well and you are right... way larger % of women hanging themselves than I thought. Firearms, hanging and poisoning are the 3 largest %’s. I guess we learn something new everyday.
You are getting beat up, but I’m pretty sure when the story popped up a few weeks ago, they were saying she went by herself.
I’m not saying if she did or didn’t, I just remember earlier stories reporting that she did go by herself.
I know what you’re going through...been there done that, more than once, for just such occasions, I keep an old steel pot helmet liner to protect my head, from self inflicted bruises, sometimes I have to wear the damn thing all day long...hehehe!
way to go
That’s a stench you can’t possibly miss.
“way to go”.
I’m not taking any compliments from someone who walks around looking for his comb while holding his comb! :)
Thoughts...why take credit cards and power bars if you intend to kill yourself? The reports say hanging in a tree...does that have to mean by a rope or could it mean draped over branches? After all this time, wouldn’t someone notice the odor? It’s seems the only one home when she left was the husband...he was the last to see her......
How did people not smell her decomposing body?!
why am i not surprised
heat rises
anyone seen my comb
Precisely
Depends upon how far away they were, wind directions, etc. The family
apparently searched the area and I would assume it was shortly after she
didn’t return. There wouldn’t have been a lot of decay odor at that time.
Apparently the other seachers, dogs, etc. didn’t search that same area.
Buzzards...
