Law enforcement officials in Texas announced this evening that they found a body believed to be that of a woman who went missing nearly a month ago after returning from a two-year trip around the world.
Leanne Hecht Bearden, 33, was last seen January 17 when she told her in-laws in Garden Ridge near San Antonio that she was going for a walk. She has not been heard from since.
The woman and her husband, Joshua Bearden, were staying with his parents after returning from their travels earlier this month.
City Police Chief Donna O'Conner said just after 1pm Thursday, they received a call from a Garden Ridge homeowner saying that he had found a body in a wooded area near his residence, CNN reported.
Officers who responded to the scene came upon what is now believed to be Leanne Bearden's body.
Police are not disclosing the cause of death pending the results of the autopsy that will be performed on the remains.....

local woman with “perfect” family hanged herself in the backyard one early sunday morning.
And others....
Had a beloved teen missing for a few weeks locally. Found hanging in a wooded park. He was high up, no one saw him.
Have you ever found yourself standing in the bathroom with a comb in your hand not realizing you no longer have hair?
LOL
And yet, according to the map posted above, her body was (eventually) found ~1,000' from the house she left.
Sounds a bit fubar, if ya ask me.
thanks for the link, I've thought suicide all along too.
Two years galavanting around the globe without a care in the world and suddenly faced with the reality that you now have to get a job and become a productive member of society may have pushed her over the edge.......
From the articles I've seen and her own personal blog, I don't think Ive read how that cool vacation was ultimately paid for.......
Credit card?
More stress?
Who knows........
And that's often because the killer dumps the body in that area after it has been searched knowing that it won't likely be searched again, atleast for awhile???

couch surfing —
Her husband asked on FNC for us to look out for her, and I have, so I guess I’m emotionally invested in this.
The statement the family issued this morning had no scent of foul play, more the sentiment of a suicide, but some things just don’t add up.
Autopsy results should be soon.
Like Chandra Levy.
“anyone seen my comb?”
The kids and us used to sing this little ditty:

I wish it was that easy; I’ve already looked at (the couch surfing network) and everybody we met through it has been accounted for, he said. Unfortunately, I just don’t think that’s the case.
He said Thursday that he didn’t notify Charlie Parker, the San Antonio-based private investigator who has been hired by the family, of the couple’s history with CouchSurfing.org.
Parker said knowing about it could have been helpful while searching. Everything about the case is important; we aren’t going to pass on anything, Parker said. But I don’t believe she’s using that because she left without a computer.
Kinda like youth hostels I would guess but more individually oriented. They traveled a lot of ground and countries and I don't think the "couches" were that readily available on their journey. That means they still spent a ton of money on travel expenses alone without taking into account the lodging and food they had to pay between "couches".......
I've wondered whether D.B. Cooper landed in a tall tree somewhere in the Pacific NW, became entangled in his parachute, subsequently died, and no one thought to look up.
.
Someone needed to tell Ace detective Charlie that computers are ubiquitous and found in every library in the world now. So she could use one anywhere without carrying it with her. But it's irrelevant now.
Well, apparently she left also without a cell phone, or she could have been tracked via GPS during search and rescue.
Looks like she was running away, and having been a vagabond for two years, wasn’t overly worried about getting where she wanted to go. Why didn’t he stop her? Or follow her? He waited 4 hours to call 911 for Missing Person.
If she had the back pack on she could have climb the tree and gotten entangled and not been able to get loose. Even fallen and became entangled. Not a suicide but an accident
This is the Texas Hill Country. This property is most likely in West Lake Hills, Bee Caves or Lakeway (where I am).
The bleached cedar (aged and skimpy) indicate an old lake cottage, not a newly-built residence. Her skinniness, tan and energy level indicate a party scene denizen.
This image indicates a girl who knows her way around the woods. It also does not square with a suicidal person.
