Michael Sam, the SEC’s Defensive Player of the Year and Missouri’s All-American defensive lineman, told ESPN’s Outside the Lines and The New York Times on Sunday that he is gay.
Sam is projected to be a mid-round pick in the 2014 NFL Draft after leading the SEC with 11.5 sacks and 19 tackles for a loss, but he’ll be happy playing for whatever team wants him.

It is a well known fact that gays are well on their way to becoming a majority. It is all in the Bible.
We could take a libertarian view even of suicide, though I don’t. Actually my point was simply about the mass media’s fetish with such matters as who “ sleeps” with whom. Instead of reporting news that might actually impact us. Whether some football player likes girls , boys, mountain goats, or the gas tank pipe on his 57 Chevy doesn’t.

Indeed. Supposedly the team and campus community knew about Sam for sometime. Then he “Came out” to the team in August but still wanted to keep it quiet.
Then between the end of season and NFL draft . . .

Mark my words: He’s going to Seattle.

What’s tragic is that he has, apparently, zero idea of what the word ‘team’ means.
I’ve talked to my 17 year old nephew about his future. I mentioned the armed forces as an option. He said no, that’s where all the gay people are going. It’s an ignorant statement, but it makes me wonder what kind effect this is going to have on the NFL.

The Missouri message boards are celebrating Sam’s coming out, as if they think that there is a huge number of homosexual football players out there and that they are cornering the market on them.
I could care less about his sexuality. What he does ion his bedroom is his business. Don’t foist it upon me and expect me to celebrate or get excited.
It already has, a long time ago and quite a number of instances, but the earlier gays weren't as attention seeking and kept quiet, at least publicly. Now this Michael Sam comes along and chooses to "come out" to the New York Slimes, where he knew he'd get hugs and kisses.
The lefty sports media, even the lefty news media, are turning cartwheels over this guy and his "courage," making this the lead story in all of sports, even as the Olympics are in progress. Expect ludicrous comparisons on the left of Michael Sam to Jackie Robinson.
And today, Michelle Obama tweeted Michael Sam with a note of praise and Jay Carney at the White House press briefing exulted about him.
I guess it should take courage to announce to the world that you like to stick your pee pees in someone else’s poo poos. Or vice versa. I am not sure what kind of loons think that is something praiseworthy. But who knows what kinds of unnatural disgusting things they like. Maybe they are closet cannibals or something.

Sure, calling an announcement like this courageous is a cliche by now, but he won't be facing a supportive Lady Gaga or Elton John in the stadium.
With all the talk about hazing in the NFL, another player would have kept very quiet about something like this.
Now we can expect to hear what bigots the coaches in the NFL are if this clown isn’t drafted high.

Most professional athletes have showered in front of gay teammates at some point in their lives. I have complete confidence they won’t care. If he turns out to be a good or even average player, his perversion will probably never be an issue.
My high school class had a couple of guys who are gay and we knew it on the first day of freshman year. Everyone had to take showers after P.E., including them, and no one was raped for the entire 4 years of high school.
The football players will be fine.
