I’m familiar with the yellow water. Apparently it is not limited to Sochi. I had it in my 3-star hotel in St Petersburg. I assume it’s from rusty pipes, although that may not be all.

In one of my former jobs, we had some visitors from Kalinin in Russia. They gave out bottles of their local vodka. It was yellow too. I hope that’s what’s coming out of the spigots, although that would be wishful thinking.

My brother in law is with the state dept and has travelled extensively in Russia over the years. His stories of how bad it is are hysterical.
