Sochi officials say that the city's hotels are 97% complete on the eve of the Olympics.
But given the nightmare travel stories rolling in from reporters in Sochi, that 3% difference goes a long, long way.
There are reports of rooms without light bulbs or doorknobs. There are stories about unfinished hotels without lobbies or working elevators or running water. There are anecdotes from people who've checked into their rooms, only to find them occupied by stray dogs or construction workers napping in between shifts.
The venues and Olympic Village all look perfectly fine, and we haven't seen any complaints from athletes. But the hotels, specifically media hotels, aren't finished yet and it's a total mess.
The photos are ridiculous.

I don’t use Twitter, but apparently these Journ-O-Lists are getting a lot of blowback from people who think they are spoiled, self-important, coddled malcontents who need to grow up and quit whining.
It really does not help the cause of international peace or understanding to go to a country still struggling to emerge from the shadows of the USSR and start dumping on them for everything that’s not up to your personal standards.

You know, since it is primarily Media Pukes staying in these hotels, I really find it kind of amusing. The majority of these maggots have stepped up in the world. Let them enjoy it to the max.

As usual, the media is making this all about them. I am tired of hearing about it already. I am ready for the athletes.
We watched a pre-Olympic ice skating competition a couple of weeks ago and we were really impressed with a young Russian girl, who just turned 15 years old. Her performance was truly beautiful and has put me in the mood to watch some excellent competition.
For Windows, but I think it's a Linux port - it has a MAN page and everything.

The average resident of Sochi probably does not even have indoor plumbing.
Spoiled American journalists need to quit whining.
