In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
neologize \ nee-OL-uh-jahyz \ , verb
1. to make or use new words or create new meanings for existing words.
2. to devise or accept new religious doctrines.
Example sentences:
Scientists at Northwestern University, inspired by the faux pundits ability to neologize, created a set of nouns for Colbertian, which they could use to test the effects of bilingualism.
-- Amina Khan, Bilingualism: Stephen Colbert's 'truthiness' inspires a language, The Los Angeles Times, 2012
In the meanwhile, necessity obliges us to neologize.
-- Thomas Jefferson, To John Waldo, 1813, Jefferson: Political Writings , 1999
Etymology:
Neologize joins the Greek neo meaning "new" with a variant on logy , a combining form derived from the Greek logos meaning "word, speech, discourse, reason." This verb entered English in the early 1800s.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)

WFB's attempt to emulate us ; ) No pushing at the door please!
i’m skeptical. won’t get my hopes up.
LOL. No such thing as mean sports talk...lol
(Plus, I would never suspect you of such:-)
didn’t assume that at all, figured better to be safe than sorry!
of course not, that’s my province : )
Gosh, our GM was hit in the face by an errant puck in Minny this am at morning skate and our announcer had to be rushed to the hospital for a heart procedure. Minnesota is bad news. I hope we beat them tonight.
need to take Chanel to the vet to be checked to make sure she’s not filling with fluid again. The woman vet that has been taking care of her is off until the 24th after today, so i figured i needed to run her over there before she leaves today. Would rather not have someone else messing with things, bc Dr. McDaniel has been calling the shots throughout.
holy crap! did someone put out a hit on your team ???
I blame that traitor, Ryan Suter. I hope Chan gets a good report.
Sometimes people annoy me too, but their money is as good as mine. I don’t like cig smoke though and since a whiny kid or messy kid isn’t destroying my lungs or making my eyes water or making me feel nauseated, I can deal with the kids easier than the smoke. I’m sorry that fat people disgust you so much - it must be hard to go anywhere since so many people are overweight.
Errant puck sounds like you are blaming the puck!
Finished up on my job today and will fly home tomorrow. Gonna have to do the drive tomorrow morning since I didn’t want to jinx myself and check out of my hotel this morning.
These guys are really on the ball. Such a pleasure to work with competent people.
I’m just confused now - can’t figure if you like gov intervention in some areas but want less in others, or if you just want to get pot legalized no matter what the gov intervention might be, or not be. Can’t seem to keep up with your line of reasoning these days
Sorry, I missed this initially..... that is creepy!
The heightened emphasis on the hockey competition and the prospect of another star-studded Canada-U.S. Gold-medal match have again NHLogized the 2014 Winter Olympics ...
Speaking of over weight - not sure if you’ve ever watched “The Biggest Loser” on tv, but they had the finale yesterday and the winner, for the first time ever, looked anorexic! She was very athletic and was looking great by the end of their time on the ranch. They take another 3 months (( think) to continue losing before the finale and oh my gosh, I’ve never seen one of the contestents looking like she did. She is 5’5” and weighed 105. She won - losing over 60% of her total body weight.... I’m shocked anyone, seeing her, would think she wasn’t too thin. She has to look skinnier in person since all I saw was on tv, of course. I saw several comments about it on line today.
What is troubling you?
I think it is foolish to have a war against a mild intoxicant which many people enjoy and know to be akin to alcohol in its effects.
I don’t think captive audiences should be exposed to dirty air.
I think business owners, like bars, should be free to choose if they want to run a smoking or non-smoking bar. Tobacco, that is.
Since the effects of pot are intoxicating compared to tobacco (which is merely noxious) I don’t think people should have to be exposed who don’t want it.
What is unclear?
BTW, it is a pretty clear comcept that I can only enjoy something if it does not affect you. I can swing my fist, but not hit your face.
If I am waiting in line at the supermarket, you don’t have the right to blow smoke at me.
Welcome to the South. :) Safe travels tomorrow!
They took 200 ml of fluid and upped the lasix. She feels better and looks happy.
aw, poor baby. glad she is feeling better.
