Questions are being raised about whether an Oscar nomination was rescinded because of the films faith-based message.
The low-budget film Alone Yet Not Alone was nominated in the Best Song category, but then the song, also called Alone Yet Not Alone, was disqualified a few weeks later.
The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences pointed out that the songs creator, Bruce Broughton, had improperly emailed 70 fellow Academy members to ask them to listen to the song.

I think this opens up a vast door of ethical problems. Probably half of the nominated episodes violate the same standard rule. I can see lots of people being tossed. But it won’t happen.
Instead....a fair number of viewers will just say ‘enough’, and turn over to the History Channel for the evening. Advertisers should go ahead and ask for a discount now of fifty percent off for any time they buy for the evening.

It's way past time for some group to come forward and have awards in music, TV, and movies that aren't based on the Hollywood cult.

As I understand it, it would be a "Lifetime Achievement" Award, but expect stiff competition from Roman Polanski...

The one singing the song is Joni Eareckson Tada. It’s a miracle in itself she can sing as good as she does. She lacks diaphram muscles due to her quadriplegia. But she can indeed sing. My wife and I saw her about 20 years ago where she was speaker at an Expo for handicap equipment. She’s a remarkable person.
Didn’t know about this. Just saw it on Kelly Report.
Anyone know more about this issue? The academy needs to die on this hill of bigotry unless this rule breaking is always met with this harsh penalty.
