NEW YORK - Philip Seymour Hoffman, who won the Oscar for best actor in 2006 for his portrayal of writer Truman Capote in "Capote" and created a gallery of other vivid characters, many of them slovenly and slightly dissipated comic figures, was found dead Sunday in his Greenwich Village apartment. He was 46 years old, and leaves behind a longtime partner, Mimi ODonnell, and three children.
While the cause of death has not been made official, a drug overdose is believed to be responsible. Hoffman was found dead in his Manhattan apartment after a 911 emergency call from a friend of his, according to law enforcement sources. Hoffman was supposed to be somewhere this morning and when he did not show up the associate apparently went to Hoffman's apartment when he was discovered.

Reading his Wikipedia page his parents split when he was 10 - while that may not affect everyone badly it is certainly a predictor for emotional problems that may lead to addiction!
Now his kids are without their Dad and so the possibility of a continuing cycle. I think I better go pray for that family!
No idea what you are talking about
Fine by me I don’t recall talking to you.
God Bless his family and his soul. He obviously had some really deep issues that of course none of us could understand. The poor guy had a huge addiction problem obviously. Probably hid it from everyone for years. Rest in Peace!
Here in Western PA there are “hot doses” of heroin going around that is basically laced with fentanyl. So far this year 24 deaths and counting. I was wondering the same when I read this report earlier; did this guy catch one of the “theraflu” bags (theraflu is what is stamped on the hot dose bags)
I know right? It's a bitch when you shoot up marijuana after it has been processed through a bunch of lethal chemicals. I also hate how that THC gums up the syringe.
/rolls eyes..Get lost WOD junkie...
/amazing.
I always wonder....Who was the first person who ever thought to themselves, “Hey, I think I will shoot this into my arm?”
Gotta think of Little Big Man ... “I always said any fool could drink himself to death.”
Needle in arm, probably sent an air bubble the heart while trying to get high.
NO FRICKING WAY...I EVEN LOVED HIM IN “TWISTER,” WHEN HE WAS AN UNKOWN. HELLUVA ACTOR
Strong, deadly stuff, regardless.
I forget the movie, but there was one where the bad guy's son dies from an OD of bad heroin.
In retaliation, he says: let the PURE stuff go through.
And it kills a bunch of junkies.
He played Brandt in The Big Lebowski.
>>.Who was the first person who ever thought to themselves, Hey, I think I will shoot this into my arm?
Someone who stopped getting high from smoking it.
The all-time one, is the toad licking to get high...
I mean somebody had to be the first one who thought to themselves, “Gee, I think I’ll lick this toad.”
Too soon?
I’ve got a lot of other people on my feel sorry for list before I get to the millionaire Hollywood types. 46 years old should be old enough to know heroin is bad for you.
Or self-asphyxiation to stimulate orgasm.
Or how about Alexander Shulgin’s friends who would throw parties to sample phenethylamines that Shulgin had just synthesized in his lab?
Is it surprising a man who cannot commit to the mother of his children couldn't commit to staying away from drugs?
still very sad, always enjoyed watching him. Anyone know the movie when he played a guy addicted to inhaling gasoline?
So Hollywood, keep on giving these dysfunctional human beings awards as though they are heroes. My opinion is, if there is any indication of lawbreaking, domestic abuse, criminal activity etc. an actor is automatically disqualified for any nominations or awards.
