Current Movies Good For Dates?

Posted on 01/31/2014 8:40:48 AM PST by ConservativeMan55

So I was looking at some good date movies out to take my girlfriend to tonight.. and I've really been wanting to see Lone Survivor.

BUT.. I read the reviews and it sounds like there is a lot of cussing and grapic-ness.

Maybe more of a movie you'd go see with some dudes. But taking a girl.. maybe not.

Any other recommendations??

Movies are expensive. Two tickets are more than 20 bucks!!

Wife and I were busy yesterday and around 6PM we realized we hadn't eaten. We decided to have Pizza Hut deliver. She got what is the medium (smallest they deliver)veggie pizza with an apple pie dessert and I got 14 wings (it was my only meal of the day and a few went into the frig)40 bucks! Before tip. We decided that's it. We can go to a nice restaurant, eat our fill of good food and pay less than that.

Many of the theatre chains are replaying everything that was nominated for an Academy Award, and the Book Thief was nominated for score, so you may find it in a theatre somewhere.

Try to get tickets to the “Sing Along” edition.

Whatever you decide to go see, DO NOT take her to see August: Osage County. Boy, talk about a real downer. Dark, depressing, dank, dour, dysfunctional, deathly, debilitating, destructive, defective, deteriorating, dyspeptic. Not a positive thing to say about it. One of the least entertaining movies I’ve ever seen.

The Hobbit, Saving Mr. Banks or The Secret Life of Walter Mitty are all very good.

Lone Survivor. You will find out real quick by her reaction if she is a possible keeper.

I disagree. It is real. Triggers emotions, thoughts both good and bad. I may be odd but to me dates were all about finding out about one another and determining whether or not you wanted to spend more time together. You can learn a lot about a person after an experience like watching Lone Survivor together.

Seriously that is all you got out of that movie? It is thought provoking in so many directions, it is one of the deepest movies I have ever seen. I cannot imagine that the only thing you took away was the realism of the wounds. I could literally write a novel about what I got out of that movie.

As to someone not seeing someone for a week for taking them to see it...for me that would be a good way to find out about a person, their reaction to that movie would tell me a lot.

I must be the opposite of your wife...I left the theatre thinking every American should see it. To me it is not a “type” of movie, it is a true story. I realize it is not 100% what actually happened but it is close enough to provoke thoughts. I sure don’t see it as entertainment but I think it is a must see.
