Amanda Knox was found guilty of murder today by an Italian court, the latest twist in a murder case that goes back to 2007.
The verdict reached by the two judges and six jurors came after several hours of deliberations at the Florence courthouse.
The judge sentenced Knox to 28 years in prison. Her former Italian boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito and co-defendant was sentenced to 25 years.
Two Italian judges and six jurors began deliberations earlier today. If Knox and her former Italian boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito are found guilty, the court is also expected to pronounce a prison sentence.
The prosecutor has asked for a 26 prison term for the murder for Knox and Sollecito, plus another four years for Knox on a related libel conviction.
This is the fourth time Knox faced a verdict on the 2007 murder of her roommate Meredith Kercher while they were roommates in Perugia, Italy. Knox, now 26, and Sollecito, 29, were convicted in 2009.
After serving four years in prison they were freed in 2011 when an appeals court threw out the murder conviction. But Italy's supreme court ordered another appeals court to rehear the case. Kercher's sister Stephanie and brother Lyle were in the courtroom for the verdict.
Knox, who is sporting a new, short haircut, remained in her hometown of Seattle for the latest trial. Sollecito was in court today earlier today, but was not present for the verdict....

LOL!!
Really? You actually think she is guilty?

See his post 19. He thinks she was tried and convicted in the US.
Pretty much tells us he knows NOTHING about this case.
They’ve got a really screwy justice system over there.
Tell that to Stacey Koon.
Seems she has a real chance not to be extradited if for no other reason than the Quintuple Jeopardy.
Do you know anything about the case? She was convicted. CONVICTED. They just let her go while awaiting a retrial her shyster lawyers got.
You know the definition of Hell, right:
The food is British
The cars are French
The police are German
....and the whole thing is run by Italians.
Actually it all depends on how Eric the Corrupt feels that day. If he gets out of the wrong side of bed he could doom the white girl to extradition to the third world. Or money could change hands and little white girl remains free within the US .... and her Italian language skills are for naught.
Oh yes she will.
You just watch how fast Eric Holder gives up that pretty little white girl and has her arrested and extradited to Italy to face sentencing there.
If she were smart, she would disappear...and fast.
I’m expecting them to do just that.
...or you could just, you know, not commit murder.
Ferraris.
Not that I trust the US media, so I could be off base, but everything I've learned is the prosecutor was on a witch hunt and the "evidence" was practically nonexistent. The prosecutor jumped to a judgement and then had to save face. I read about this case AFTER she was ACQUITTED by another Italian court.
I think she’s guilty as well unless the press has been lying about the evidence all this time. But of course because she is good looking that absolves her of all guilt. If she was fat and black there is no way in hell she would have had her arse kissed so pathetically like this, books, TV shows, give me a break.
You didn’t follow the case very will. She was as guilty as O.J. It’s funny Americans are supporting her because she’s pretty and she killed someone not from the U.S. If the facts were the same and it was in the U.S., you’d be calling for her to get the chair. She’s a very dangerous psychopath, and she’s going to manipulate more murders. How are you going to feel for the family of her future victims?
BUMP
You do realize that Italy already has tried and convicted and sentenced a man for this crime — and he is in a Roman jail right now.
I guess you’ve never heard of Jon Corzine.
I never really followed the case, so I don’t have any opinion on her guilt. Can you summarize the evidence against her?
I’m boycotting Italy because they sent this murderer back to our country.
