Amanda Knox was found guilty of murder today by an Italian court, the latest twist in a murder case that goes back to 2007.
The verdict reached by the two judges and six jurors came after several hours of deliberations at the Florence courthouse.
The judge sentenced Knox to 28 years in prison. Her former Italian boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito and co-defendant was sentenced to 25 years.
Two Italian judges and six jurors began deliberations earlier today. If Knox and her former Italian boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito are found guilty, the court is also expected to pronounce a prison sentence.
The prosecutor has asked for a 26 prison term for the murder for Knox and Sollecito, plus another four years for Knox on a related libel conviction.
This is the fourth time Knox faced a verdict on the 2007 murder of her roommate Meredith Kercher while they were roommates in Perugia, Italy. Knox, now 26, and Sollecito, 29, were convicted in 2009.
After serving four years in prison they were freed in 2011 when an appeals court threw out the murder conviction. But Italy's supreme court ordered another appeals court to rehear the case. Kercher's sister Stephanie and brother Lyle were in the courtroom for the verdict.
Knox, who is sporting a new, short haircut, remained in her hometown of Seattle for the latest trial. Sollecito was in court today earlier today, but was not present for the verdict....

The Italian justice system sucks. If they don’t convict on the first time, they just try you again until they do.
I’m boycotting Italy. No more med cruises that includes stops there. (I really wanted to visit the catacombs too, darn! Find a nice spot for my uhhh .)
Double Jeopardy or sumthin’ goin’ on here, IMO.
Will Hillary send her back to Italy?
Will Hubba come to her defense?
These and other developments coming
Back to You,, Bill O’Really!
Just think of what *our* reactions are here on FR when we hear some Canadian lawyer,or British politician,or Mexican drug lord, tell us how barbaric Texas's death penalty is.We tell them to go fornicate themselves...politely,of course.
So if a Mexican doesn't want to be executed in Texas he/she would be wise to stay out of that state. And if an American doesn't want to spend 26 years in an Italian prison he/she should stay out of Italy.
If at first you don’t succeed...try, try again, and again, and again.
I knew she was screwed when I read that her lawyers said “There is no way she can be convicted.”
Efficient? This is the third time the tried to convict her. Apparently there is no translation for double jeopardy to Italian.
I followed this from the start, clearly Amanda and her former boyfriend are both innocent of murder
Am not at all surprised, but was praying hoping for Amanda and the other fellow.
The former boyfriend I guess is the biggest loser here, cant see this being over turned, the appeal will be another joke
God Bless both of them
Amanda should lead a good life within the US borders, would not step out of it for a second if I was her. For those that doubt your story you will just have to keep your friends close
Beretta firearms are pretty nice.
“Knox, who is sporting a new, short haircut...”
Yeah. That tells us what is important in this case.
Bread and Circuses.
Yes, but she’s white and our laws no longer protect white people.
He has been in court for this whole proceeding but absent today.
I’ll bet he’s not in Italy anymore or in any country with an extradition treaty.
I hear ya, cruising and letting it rip on vacation can get ya in a lot of trouble sometimes.. It ain’t like the old days..
You don’t believe any woman can be evil? We should stop bring any woman to trial for any crime?
No. I know she was guilty. She is a very manipulative psychopathic person. She will be involved in killings again. Who knows, she may escape punishment again, but blaming it on her dupes.
Ok other than Aquaducts,Coliseums.....shoes..., what have the Romans ever done for us?
Celebrity murderess’ fans/legal experts in mourning. Where is that O.J. jury when we need it?
Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!
Does Ferrari sell shrouds? I wish I could afford a real one.
Italy is many things to many people..
It just seems like more of them are manic than here at home..
Especially in the judicial system.
And Holder's DOJ is moving heaven and earth trying to deport that German family who fled here because they tried to home school in Germany and the German state considers that a high crime. I am not sure what Obama/Holder might do with a celebrated case like this. If they see political advantage or want to further damage the US legal system, they just might send her to Italy.
