good riddance
that’s one of the good things about death , it eventually befalls all commies

Pete Seeger provided cheap entertainment for the Communist Party circuit.
Good. The world is a better place with one less Commie.
Not too many of the early Communists left.
Nazi supporter, Until Uncle Adolf turned on Uncle Joe.
There’s another thread, but he wasn’t a great anything in music.
He produced a pale manufactured fake imitation of folk music.
I listened to his Carnegie Hall concert over and over and over as a child.
Famous yes.
Great voice? Well to be honest you could say his voice wasn’t awful on the same scale that Dylan’s is awful.
Good riddance.
I posted on the other thread, but I’ll post here too. I always thought Seeger was a great singer, nobody else like him. Too bad he was a stinking commie to the end. RIP.
I hope that is meant as sarcasm! You do know Seeger's history at the Monterrey Folk Festival in 1968?
That's when Bob Dylan had the nerve to break down Monterrey's barrier against electrified music. When Dylan's electrified folk band was performing Seeger was ranting about "cutting the cables." Seeger's party line Stalinist instinct for crushing those who disagree extended beyond politics to music and culture in general.
Fools for Stalin
Never really like his music. I always thought he looked like he smelled.
Imagine if he had been a follower or say Mussolini, or Alister Crowley all his life as he had been a follower of murderous Communism (100-200 million dead, and counting.) Would he still be “One of the great voices of folk rock”?
There are already two threads here with links to articles. Why are you celebrating evil?
folk rock? lol
Prayers for a deeply misguided soul.
So?
Great voice?
Satire?
He was a depressing slob. He turned me off to his kind of folk music the first time I saw him. My thought was why are these people complaining about everything. When I listen to music I like to come away happy, not seriously depressed. Seriously depresssed is how Pete Seeger made me feel.
