BLUFFTON, S.C. A black cat's stay at the greater Bluffton Home Depot has been extended indefinitely.
Depot, a cat who has lived at the store for 13 years, can remain in her home as long as she likes, a spokesperson for the home-improvement chain said Wednesday.
"Unless someone can provide her a better home, she can stay," Catherine Woodling, the spokesperson, said.
The cat has been a fixture in the store's lawn and garden center for more than a decade, according to customers.
But the store recently started shopping around for someone to take Depot off its hands. Apparently, the aging cat was tripping security alarms at night, Woodling said.

Yay! Cats don’t like to be moved.
Cats really do have nine lives, though, and are notoriously fickle. When one of my relatives died, I took his 20-year-old cat from another state to live with us, and thought the cat would die from the stress within weeks. But the cat lived another two additional years! He got a lot of love and had it really good in our house -- fresh mozzarella and pepperoni, real chicken, McDouble burgers, spring water in his bowl, lots of birds outside the window, wall to wall carpet throughout... so I guess he didn't want to miss out!
I did take him about two weeks to come out of hiding and mourning, though. Once out, he was the boss.
I did take him about two weeks = “It” did take him, etc
Aww! They buddies?
Huzzah!
That owl story is cool!
