What happens when we do? Watch.
Some states are worse than others for police and judicial tyranny. New Hampshire courts are barbecue pits, especially in Keene, New Hampshire. Vermont is obviously a rigged system. But I am left alone in these states. In the State of Connecticut cops will threaten your life if you are talking to elected officials about correcting the system.
Rhode Island cops want to arrest you for stupid crap like sleeping in public ... like at a public beach. A reason I never wanted to live in Rhode Island.
Hawaiian State and/or local Police try to sell weed out of the trunks of their cars and then want to bust their competition ...
Pennsylvania some of the worst racist White cops I have ever seen. I was told by a downtown Miami Florida police officer that I was the wrong color to hang out, I'm White. I traveled for months in Europe and the former USSR and had no negative interactions with police, something I can't seem to go a couple of days being left alone in the US pursuing legal activities, trying to enjoy liberty, in the pursuit of happiness.
I got pulled over for being a Yankee out driving at 5 AM in Mississippi. His tune quickly turned to alarm when he learned I was an insurance adjuster in the aftermath of Katrina and I had the power to turn him in or black list him if he had any sort of insurance claim.
New York City cops act like they would like to kill you if they can get you alone, or maybe will just shoot you for fun right in the street.
Not all cops are bad. The good ones seems to be the ones the bad cops target first. There seem to be more bad cops, or cops that just look the other way, than there are really good cops. We need to let the cops out there know that we have their back when they are acting for the public good, and that we will be on their backs when they are not.
Since they always treated me well Ill continue to treat them well.

Same here. I am a bit tired of the Occupy group posting anti-cop comments.
You I should start pulling them over demand a 100 bucks for going to fast?
Same here.
Just the other day I saw some idiot here saying that the fact that the media was reporting on the cop tossing a football with a kid proved that good cops are an exception. The only real exception was the media choosing to report something good.
The media didn’t report on me not raping anyone yesterday or you not murdering anyone yesterday.
The reactionary idiots don’t have the brains or courage to take their issues with police up with their state and local governments. Some people are just so in love with the idea of being angry that they wouldn’t know what to do without it.
Some years ago a new cop maced my 12 lb dog for “charging” him. Naturally it pissed me off and I told him about it plus I called his supervisor. At the end of his shift that cop came back to apologize and I invited him in to get to know the dog. I learned that he had recently transferred to our little 5 man force from Detroit and he learned that he could relax around here because we have virtually no crime to begin with. A few months later we disbanded our police department and the cop chose to stay and find a new career.
You have a good point. But I have visited 47 states, mostly on business, and lived/worked in 8 over a 50+ year period.
During that time I have had one negative experience with cops, and it, as it turned out, was more or less a misunderstanding, with the cop’s attitude being fine once it was worked out.
When the author of this piece reports repeated (apparently) run-ins with cops in 9 different states I am forced to wonder why his experience has been so different from mine. He claims to be white, so it isn’t “walking or driving while black.”
Why are the cops after him with such enthusiasm while they completely ignore me? I don’t claim his experience is invalid, but I do suggest mine is as much so.
Conservatives have generally not been terribly receptive to minority claims of police harassment and brutality.
But recently attitudes seem to be shifting. Is it possible the minorities were on the money all along, and the cops are just shifting their us vs. them attitude to fit the rest of us into “them” with the minorities?
Oooh. Bad idea. I would not recommend that. But if you see bad behavior, get the car number, note the time and call it in. Won’t do any good but at least they know you care.
Further more, what makes you think i condone what the crowd of drunks did? I wouldn’t do that. But my point is a breakdown in trust has occurred.
watched that Video and those asshats were lucky they didn’t get arrested for dis-orderly conduct.
Maybe the cops were there because of complains by people of loud, drunken jerks dressed in carrot outfits harassing people.
If the cops were their on a complaint the video would be very different. That was clearly not the case.
My point is a breakdown has occurred. Police Institutions need to pay attention to the issue now while the issue can still be fixed.
It was 1983 and it was a black Delaware State Trooper who gave me a hard time.
It was 9:30pm and my car was acting up on the back road I used to get home from work. I was 3/4 of a mile from work when I realized something was wrong and tried to make a U-turn and miscalculated the road edge and wound up with my tail end in the ditch. A passerby used her CB to see if anyone with a tow rope/chain was in the area, someone was and pulled me out and was checking under my hood to see if the problem was easily solvable when the cavalry showed up. Unfortunately for me the nice folks who pulled me out put in the west bound lane of the road, had I been on the east bound side of the 2 lane road I would have been in City of Dover jurisdiction. I think the state boys were bent out of shape because all the Dover guys knew me by name - and the state guys only knew my name, not me.
I was a reporter/anchor at the local radio station at the time, but didn't do a damned thing - came to find out later it was the tow truck driver -that the state guy said HAD to be called - that reported him.
“I was told by a downtown Miami Florida police officer that I was the wrong color to hang out, I’m White.”
He was right. He was trying to do you a favor and spare you a beatdown. I used to live in Miami and you couldn’t pay me to go downtown.
That is not my post so i don’t know anything about the circumstances.
I know. I’m just stating a fact about Miami. The Miami cops are not choir boys either.

Even the "good cop" will kill you if they think you are "disobeying" them, or jeopardizing "officer safety", meaning thinking of your own safety first and shooting the home invaders when the SWAT team mistakenly busts your doors in at 3AM.
Nuts to that.
It almost always comes down to the chief or sheriff. In my little town, the police chief feels that his officers are there to protect and serve. He tries to be really careful when hiring to get officers that feel the same way. Occasionally that doesn't work out. We've had officers that see people as cash machines for the city, taking just about any excuse for writing tickets and stuff. The problem officer will be given a bit of time to adjust his attitude, and if he can't make the transition, it is politely suggested to them that there are other towns nearby that they might be happier working for. Some have changed and stayed on, and some have not been able to and left.
He also gives a free concealed carry class for any resident (class size limitations apply of course) on a quarterly basis. He figures that the more people who are armed, the safer his town is.
I wish more cops were like him. Sadly that is becoming less and less common.
Solzhenitsyn gives the cop-lovers on FR the gas. It’s much easier for them to just bow down to the Man.
” Lots of posters here seem to be working
hard for this breadown.”
But cops aren’t? I shouldn’t notice when cops kill or hurt innocent people? I shouldn’t notice that cops feel that they should get away with it. I shouldn’t notice bad attitudes?
When cops shoot at newspaper ladies and walk, people notice. Cops have no one to blame but themselves for their reputation.
Because they are used to controlling evidence of their actions.
