While many dogs and cats can live harmoniously together, there are certain dog breeds with hunting instincts that may be too strong to handle daily life with a feline friend

There’s just no accounting for ‘taste’.
Ditto here. I know someone with an Australian Cattle Dog / Terrier mix (both breeds a "shouldn't" according to this article) and two cats. I've watched the dog pounce on, play with, and even groom both cats - and they come back for more. They enjoy it. Both cats were introduced, as kittens, to their household after the dog was 2+ years old.
B.S. article. Very dog is a law unto itself.....generalities do not apply here.
I dislocated my shoulder wrestling a feral cat fron my pit bulls jaws.
I have had to rescue my Springer from a pit a couple times before I told the tenant to get rid of it. If you want one of the killing machines to let go pick it straight up by the tail. It will be so freaked that it will drop whatever it has locked on to.
That dog looks awesome! I love rescue dogs.
Our cattle dog border collie mix tolerates the cat. He doesn’t chase him but you can tell he doesn’t like him. The cat on the other hand, loves the ACD and wants to have his babies. Our dachshund wants to eat the cat but knows he’s not allowed. It sounds sad for the cat but he seems content.
I had what looked like a flat hair retriever, and a cat. They would cuddle and nap together for 14 years. But when a strange dog or cat crossed the yard, they they would both react no mater which species was there at the time. On the cat’s part we would have displaced aggression, but the dog would only bark. 5 minutes later they would be buddies again.
Tried that. didnt work.
he is 8 yrs old. the only thing he has ever attacked was cats squirrels and mice.
I have has neigjbors kids, friends of neighbors kids et all at my house. no problems ever. once a kid grabbed his balls 3 x . all he did was yelp
Loves kids
Bad news is when my son was attacked once all he did was bark.
None of German Shepherd Rescue of Orange County's malinois will tolerate cats.

They've obviously never met my cat.
Ten staples for the rat terrior, neighbors pit, don't know.
My neighbor got seriously skinned knees during the episode but came out to apologise the next morning and didn't mention her dogs condition. I didn't mention my vet bill.
Yes we can just all "get along." My neighbor is an older Vietnamese import with poor english skills.
You are so right about the high prey drive in the Belgian Malinois, but they are the best dogs anyone could ever hope to share their life with, if they have the right living situation, and can provide a proper environment (not apartment or yard dogs).
Those of you who know dogs will understand what I mean. These are small farm dogs, and need that kind of environment.
People who think dogs are an accessory to a fashionable life-style do not want to get involved with a Belgian Malinois. You both will be miserable.
They will disappoint you if you, as partners, do not provide a small property to garden, tend and protect, and a life to share with them, the way a farmer and his wife would on a daily basis. Belgians need to be with their humans all day and all night long, for they were bred for the way life used to be.
I would give anything to have my Hanna and Shadow back again, and to relive the years we shared together. I miss them so much.
We have a Schnauzer / Poodle mix who hates cats but respects claws. He leaves the cats alone after some unfortunate experiences. He is a real wuss. On the other hand, we have a Boston Bull who loves everybody including the cats who return the affection.
My Shepherd did the same thing. She would carefully carry newborn kittens away from their mother and lick them until they smelled like proper puppies.
She never hurt the kittens. We'd just carry them back to their mother.
I’ve got labs who hate cats. My dogs are backyard dogs and the cats have learned NOT to go there.
The cats are at fault since they taunt the dogs through the back sliding glass door.
My Schnoodle had 4 brothers and a sister that were cats. He loves cats!
Either that or he just feels sorry for them that they were not born dogs!
Never trust people who dislike cats. Irish proverb
Also, don’t kill a cricket; it’s family will eat your socks.
