FOREST ACRES, SC Two suspects are at large Tuesday, after a Monday night home invasion in Forest Acres left a third suspect dead after a shootout with one of the people in the home.
Just before midnight, the three knocked on a back door of a home in 3500 block of Linbrook Drive, Forest Acres Police Chief Gene Sealy said at a news conference Tuesday.
One of six adults in the rental home at the time answered, Sealy said, and the three burst in and started firing handguns in the air, demanding money.
Another adult in the home fired at the suspects, Sealy said, and one of them was hit and died at the scene.
His identity will be released later Tuesday, Sealy said.
The other two suspects fled on foot and were last seen hopping a fence on Two Notch Road, Sealy said.
It was unclear whether the suspects and any of the six in the home knew each other, Sealy said, but the chief is calling the incident random at this point.
Sealy also said it was unclear whether any gang members were involved.
We dont have any information to corroborate that now, it very well could be, Sealy said.
No one in the home was injured by gun fire, but one occupant was pistol-whipped by one of the suspects and treated at the scene, Sealy said.
Forest Acres Police are working with the Richland County Sheriffs Department, which arrived first on the scene. Law enforcement officials were at the home throughout the night following the incident.
Love a happy ending.
One less guy for society to worry about. The other two are living on borrowed time....a day...a week...a month...a year. However, they don’t care. Once you get this status in your mind...you just don’t have much to worry about for future concerns.
Just looked up the area on the map.
It appears to be a colony of Sons of 0bama.
How'd that turn out?
Another adult in the home fired at the suspects, Sealy said, and one of them was hit and died at the scene.
That's how.
Forest Acres changes the closer you get to Two Notch, or at least it used too. My mother lived on Dalloz, just off of Forest Drive, and it was a pretty good area. Looks like this place is closer to Two Notch.
Gee - if they’re really searching for the perps, why don’t they give any descriptions?
They jumped a fence on “Two Notch Road”. Too bad the shooter inside the house only gets to put one “notch” on his guy instead of three.
It’s about a mile from where Cy Young Winner Lamar Hoyt and I played pony league. Used to be nice.
Not far from me. FA city limits is about 3/4 of a mile up. This past Saturday, the CVS was robbed also in FA.
The ppolice department is only a couple minutes away around a corner. A quick in and out. Only hit the register but didn’t try for the pharmacy.
“Street Kings” was a great movie.
Is that from Street Kings or Training Day?
Police are still looking for two other men who ran from the home. Sealy described the remaining suspects as skinny black males. One of them is approximately 5’ 8” and was wearing a camouflage jacket. The other is described as standing approximately 6’ and wearing a gray hoodie.
I know that this is shocking to many...
“6 adults in house? ..preps raiding a druggie’s house”
Possibly. Maybe even likely. Though it doesn’t really matter: the folks sleeping peacefully in their home at night (drug home or not) shouldn’t be subject to slaughter by an armed trio of thugs invading the home. It’s also possible that drugs or not, not EVERYONE in the home was a druggie either.
But it would mean that the crime wasn’t exactly random.
