This sounds very predatory. Who would do this to a child? Shame on the Thai women who agreed to this.

Babies are human and have rights, too. The most basic ones is to be born to a mother and father who have a legally recognized commitment to provide them with a stable personal identity, a place in their kinship system of origin, and support and sustenance. This idea of exploiting Asian women by rental of their bodies as reproductive concubines is barbaric. It reduces the gestational mother to an instrumental, sub-personal level, and completely abrogates the gestational bonding needs of the child. The concoction and purchase of children as lifestyle accessories is a violation of human rights at the most foundational level.

They mean “Baby taken from mother at birth and adopted and raised as if it were one’s own.”
