If you see a mushroom cloud DO run (but only for 30 minutes):Why it’s better to run away from nuclea

Should you be in the unfortunate position of being in the area when a nuclear bomb explodes, new research suggests rather than 'sheltering in place' as many emergency programs insist, your best bet for survival might be to run away from the blast.

Sheltering in place is not always the best survival strategy after a nuclear detonation. If you can reach higher quality shelter in less than 30 minutes, you should go for it.

If out in the open, you need to find any shelter at all as quickly as possible.

It all sounds good, but when everyone would get on the road “to run away”, there would be such huge traffic jam, that nobody could get to anywhere anyway.

I’m going to be totally amazed if 10 years passes and no nukes have been used in anger. I say “10 years” but I feel like 1 or 2 is the real likelihood. Our masters are getting us ready for this event.

that half-hour might be better spent reviewing your bucket list and/or “putting your affairs in order”, as they say.

if you are in the blast area wait until the initial shock wave passes THEN run away as fast as possible to get out of the radioactive fallout.

But go perpendiclular to the prevailing winds to get out of the fallout.

If the winds are going east, do not go east WITH? the wind, even if that is directly away from the blast area- go south THEN east

Analyzing wind direction and traveling up wind might keep you alive if you are very lucky

Or better yet, don’t live in an area where a nuclear blast is likely.

You would have to know wind direction at all levels. You might be traveling against the wind and away from the cloud but the wind at 50,000 feet might be carrying fallout right to where you’re heading.

If near a nuke I’d get out perpendicular to the wind. Staying only means extreme exposure to radiation.

If you are upwind of the blast run further upwind.

If downwind run at a right angle to the wind, away from directly downwind.

Good luck.

You’re going to need it.

RAT land is ground zero. Big urban centers. I don't recommend areas with big holes in the ground for ICBMs either.
