Guns dont kill people, popcorn kills people. Or maybe its texting. Or just being in the wrong place at the wrong time with some fool who thinks he needs to take a gun to the movies.

Then I can expect thousands of shootings today in my state alone?
Or the millions of FReepers that cook up a batch when a good show (thread) begins ....
Except the guy in question was an ex-cop - you know, one of the only kind of guys liberals think should be allowed to have guns.
A retired cop. Someone that the liberals deem to be so so much better than the masses that they are allowed to carry nationwide.
Well, it does prove one guy is. But this article exposes failure of this author’s intellectual approach to thisliberal group think: He is lumping people into groups rather than focusing on the individual.
I see it in people’s perspective on auto accidents. If a car gets in an accident people blame it on the driver(stupid women drivers or asian drivers, or teenagers, etc.)But when a truck or motorcycle causes an accident they tend to say, “stupid truck drivers” or “stupid motorcyclists”.
One could just as easily say that retired cops have a superiority complex and that was the problem here.
That said, an armed society is a polite society. I wonder if the deceased would have acted the way he did if the cop had been open carrying from the git go.
Nope. Just proves you can’t trust cops. They have this “eff all you peasants” attitude that makes them dangerous.
With almost as many guns as there are people we see thousands of people shot in each theater each showing.
Jeepers! It’s gonna’ be like Antietam down here today!
No, it proves that a cop went nuts.
It wasn’t a “guy” - it was an ex-cop with an elitist sense of authority.
Whether I'm going to Church, the mall, walking the dog or to the bank, I never leave home with out it.
I'd never shoot a guy for throwing popcorn, gummy bears, maybe, but popcorn...
Well, those sugarfree gummy bears have been proven near lethal - but you have to ingest them.
Then comparable stats need to be thrown back in their face. If one person out of millions misuses food stamps, cancel all food stamps. If one person abuses Medicaid, it’s a program that must be stopped. If one illegal commits a crime, shouldn’t we deport all illegals?
BTW, not that this justifies the shooting, but something tells me the deceaced was a royal prick. I’ve come across that sort of person more than once. It’s slightly skewing my attitude about this thing.
I know that if even a total jerk asked me to stop texting in a theater I’d stop doing it. I might grumble to myself but the Bible pretty clearly teaches me how to deal with such situations.
Yes, an example of one is always good for coming to a universal conclusion.
I marvel at the lack of logic that leftist suffer under. Here the writer tries to bolster his position by citing the background of the shooter to maintain that a gun, no matter who carries it, is going to drive the wearer to kill someone. By raising this fallacious argument, he suggests that trained law enforcement should all be disarmed since that dastardly gun on their hip is going to overpower their good sense and cause them to illegally kill someone. Logic says that people, not guns kill people and there is always going to a bad apple in any barrel.
Using their own logic....
Only cops should have guns. And Guns should not be in movie theaters. Therefore, cops should not be allowed to go to the movies.
You realize he and his wife were on a date. Their two year old was with the babysitter. The movie hadn't started yet and he was texting with the babysitter. I'm not sure anything has been reported that suggests "the deceaced was a royal prick."
My opinion? Your assumption is not based on a reasonable review of the reports.
