Not sure what to make of this. No one went to check on the girl, they started assuming and got in trouble. Overall, it seems the fire department was disorganized and ill prepared for the crash, a big problem for an airport fire department.

So during all that time with no crashes, they were just screwing around then and not prepping for a disaster? I hope the family sues for millions in 8 figures.

The helmet-cam video I saw was damn strange. At least 2 firefighters knew she was lying on the ground before the trucks arrived. Perhaps they may have been afraid to move her immediately due to injuries, but they knew also the fire trucks were coming and needed to get close to the plane to spray it.

And yet the kid still got run-over.

Seems like serious incompetence to me.

Are all first responers trained to act on emotion and adrenaline? Is triage training going to far? Is respect for life training missing? I don’t get it. I don’t run over dead animal’s if i can possibly avoid it. Why? Because i have a soul. The firefighters seem to be pleading they thought she was dead so they ran over her. Damn. That’s heartless. Especially since doing the job and doing it right did NOT demand rolling over dead,dying teenagers. I just can’t fathom the mind set and culture that would even venture this excuse.

I don’t understand why they wouldn’t place big honking traffic cones with strobe lights near any potential ejected passengers so fire trucks can avoid them.

Dead or alive, they should have moved her out of the way. And if that wasn't possible, they should have marked her position. Surely they realized that there would be lots and lots of fire trucks converging on that spot (it being close to the burning plane, and all), and if a firefighter could not be spared to stand guard over the body, they should have marked the location in some way.

If the body did later end up getting covered in foam, then at least it's understandable if the drivers of the later-arriving trucks didn't see her. But if the report is true that one or both of them saw the body and ran it over anyway, then that's just heartless in the extreme. Even if they thought she was dead, that doesn't give them the moral right to desecrate her body.

I don't know who's at fault here (the person who didn't mark her body? the person who didn't move her? the driver who saw her and ran over her anyway?), but someone needs to be held accountable.
