Birklee School of Music is in Boston and offers degree programs in contemporary music. Only 20% of applicants gain admission. Almost 100 graduates have received over 200 Grammys. Sam auditioned and gained acceptance before the live shows. I think he can sing...a lot of these kids could sing much better if they had proper mentoring.
Anyone know what happened to CJs adoring white girlfriend? Maybe the producers told her to stay away so as not to offend all the conservative racists (sarcasm) who frown upon mixed race relationships?
I don’t know how Alex even got into the top tier. He’s okay for a jr high dance but that’s about it. His voice isn’t memorable and his personality is blah.
Taylor Swift did a duet with Stevie Nicks on an awards show a few years ago. Stevie Nicks did okay and Taylor Swift was in a key too high for her and she was beyond pitchy. If anyone else saw that, it was not her best moment. She writes great songs and she does help children’s charities. She can sing, play and has stage presence. She looks different than when she began. It looks like she had plastic surgery around her eyes. But whatever. I don’t have a problem w/her at all. At least she actually has a career unlike the Kardashians who just talk through their nose and that’s their special talent.
Kelly Pickler picked Jolene once. She did pretty good with it.
I saw Shakira sing Empire on The Voice. She’s pretty nasally which is kind of a technopop sound. All I can remember is that there were lyrics that we were the stars in the universe or something like that. If that’s the hook for the song, it’s not so much. She always looks fabulous - would that we had trainers, makeup people, stylists, etc etc etc. Oh, well. But that nasal stuff just bugs me.
Costello’s wife never phones it in. She did a concert in Brazil and got into all the Latin tunes. If you can ever find her Brazilian concert on line, it was captivating. She always has a great band with her. Some of her older players have pretty much died of old age.
Well, I’m not a die hard fan of Alex’s aunt but she has name recognition and all that. I like genres vs. thinking in terms of this singer or that singer. I like singers who are deceased cuz I like standards. Of course, I wish they weren’t dead but not up to me. Up all night. Napping soon. Hope that made sense.
Berklee has stuff on line too for aspiring musicians.
That’s probably true. But one huge flaw this year among the contestants is that they don’t have any personality. Alex, Pinky, Sam. They have decent to great voices. But between the three of them, they can’t scrape up any attitude, good, bad, any sparkle. Sad.
Sam needs to go to that school. They might be able to pull a performer out of his butt.
I think the problem with the white girlfriend isn’t that she is white. I think the problem is, when he had his quite black son in the audience, who was adorable, it became clear that there is another baby mama to go with that baby. And that is what the show doesn’t want to show. Or maybe the white girlfriend got bad tweets about stealing someone’s baby daddy and decided not to come. Or maybe CJ’s press agent said he couldn’t clearly have a poor black baby mama trying to raise his kid while clearly he left her for a new white chick.
I saw that, and she did sound horrible. On awards shows she generally doesn’t sound very good. But I still like her songs.
I didn’t know about costellos wife. Didn’t know he had a wife. He is not a good looking man. But he’s a great songwriter too. I remember when his first record was out. My friend said, you HAVE to hear this. She played me Watching the Detectives. Awesome. The rest of the album was great too.

Diana Krall. They’ve been married for quite some time and they have a child. They live in Nova Scotia but probably have more than one home.
I listened to AI while I was doing laundry this morning. Nothing caught my attention until Caleb sang. I stopped the laundry and watched him and I got chills. He is standing way above the rest at this point and that’s just from hearing him. imho

I hate the way j-Lo squeezed out tears for CJ. She couldn’t care less!
And the two men get seedier every week. Their faux gay bantering should annoy all gays from coast to coast.

I agree.... a couple of talented but most aren’t. I think some of the better ones probably didn’t make the last judges cut... for whatever reason.
