Thanks for the nod, SD ... One thing I've learned about Spanish so far is how many letters are pronounced differently than you might expect (e.g. V as 'b'), and how much fewer sounds are utilized vs. other languages (no SH, ZH, etc.)
RE the WFTD, I've found that a TRUE Cognate can serve as a fine, roborant roborant.

I don’t know the law in other states, but I petitioned to be emancipated at 17, and was, because my parents agreed that I had assumed the responsibilities of an adult.

I did it so I could apply for a small scholarship to cover part of my education-I had to be independent of my parent’s support, and able to sign documents on my own to do that. I lived on my own, but it was in a hunting cabin on the ranch, not govt housing.

It would be fruncir el ceño, properly, but I’ve never used that-hacer una cara-make a face-is what I would say.

And again, just as with your declaration that the wife paid to have him killed, you are concluding without any evidence. Any number of reasons why they dumped the car are plausible: they were in a panic because they didnt expect a rich guy to fight back, or they saw a cruising police car and feared they were about to get caught, or one of the four was more scared and caused them to stop- you have no indication that it was a murder for hire just as you had no proof the wife did it. What is next? The boss had him killed?

I meant without emancipation, which I don’t think is a common thing. Maybe it is.

Emancipation was more common then, to get certain scholarships-it was not easy to lie about parent’s income, living at home, etc and not get caught-better to tell the truth from the gitgo-and my ethnicity didn’t get me a pass, like it would now.

I say under my breath to describe a sanctimonious, insufferable man...

There are more than a few that have described me that way. But I am half Sicilian and it is my family name. There is a rumor that we are shirt tail relations to the Sicilian author Giovanni Verga. I prefer to say that we are either one of the illegitimate offspring, or one of the salve families that were owned by other members of the family. Either explanation used to make my very prim and proper Aunts squirm with discomfort. You can actually see some of my book reviews on Amazon

yes it was. again, i still haven’t seen the video, but i do believe from all that’s been said that it was sufficient to lead to this result. sad thing is how many others are doing the same, other babies living in similar environments.

i am $875 poorer, but took chan to the vet today bc her belly was big and i didn’t think it was from too many cookies. turns out she was filling with fluid from the congestive heart failure. they xrayed her and determined that it was indeed fluid and she gave me the option of having her drained. They use a syringe to suck the fluid out and got a HALF LITER, that’s the equivalent of a bottle and a half of soda, single serve size. They need to do a sonogram to guide the needle etc. So yeah, it was expensive. they are upping her meds and we are hoping to stave off any more accumulations of fluid. She said there are several cavs in the practice with congestive heart failure and they need to go in every few weeks to be “tapped.” i said we would not be doing that, that i would do it this time and hope that it would not recur. I have told them that we will not undertake extreme measures. i am not taking her to a doggie cardiologist. We will do what we can to keep her comfortable and happy for as long as we can. Since we thought she was going to die that night a few months back this is all gravy to me now. they have reconfigured her meds to help keep the fluid down. They are also expensive. I’ve been delaying Jules well visit bc of the $$$ we are spending on chan each month.

I received a roborant yesterday — an automated fundraising call for some organization outraged about unemployment benefits ending after only two or three years.

it would allow infection to invade her. As it is, she has to take an antibiotic since they stuck a needle in her. for one thing, the poor little thing hasn’t been groomed since that last horrible collapse she had bc i don’t want to stress her heart with the grooming which is def a stressful experience. i have done butt washes regularly, but they clipped her nails for me at the vet and brushed her out bc she is just a filthy little urchin. Jules has been groomed monthly and you can practically hear the NEENER NEENER issuing from chan when he is dragged out to the grooming van and she is left in the house.
