A bit drastic at this point doncha think? How about rolling back to a prior install point.

Periodically, when things seem to be working on my Win 7 laptop and desktop, I do a system image backup, if I have installed updates, upgrades, new versions, new programs.

System image backups are great. If one runs into a problem, they can restore to that earlier time. By doing an image restore, one does not lose their preference settings or installed programs. A system image restore takes about 45 minutes, compared to 2+ days to reinstall Windows and programs from scratch.

I quit upgrading most Win7 related several months ago. Java created conflicts. Windows updates created conflicts. Firefox created conflicts. Adobe Flash created conflicts. It got to the point it was safer to leave everything alone, once I got it all working together.
