LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Sugarplum went into the salon as a reddish-blonde dachshund mix and came out with pink and green ears, a rainbow tail and a bow in her fur.
"It's like having a little unicorn creature," said Sasha Sinnott, an attorney from Pasadena who was nearly giddy about her dog's makeover.
For some dog owners, simple bathing and combing is not enough. So they pay groomers to turn fur into an artist's canvas, where vibrant sweeps of chalk and paint transform pooches into fantasy fur balls that draw both compliments and strange looks. For an extra 10 or 15 minutes at the groomer, the everyday dog can get an outlandish redesign with a temporary paint tattoo, Mohawk, feather extension or glued-on jewels.

That’s a great idea, if they stay on.

We used to have a cockapoo that when we took him in for a cut, they’d put a bow in his hair. First chance he had, he’d roll around on the floor trying to get that thing out.

Declawing is very painful, so it's good that there is an option. I will say this, though-if the alternative is to euthanize the cat, declawing is much better.
I'm sure that neutering is quite painful too, but I've never seen anyone objecting to it (which doesn't mean that no one has).

The same "Aunt Clara" types who want to feminize little boys are apparently doing this to their dogs too.

Looks like the Chinese are getting in on this fad too. The pantyhose thing seems to be one of their favorites

I hope the dog does take revenge on the groomer. Or pee on him.
