OK, I’d say those are good films you listed. Actually, I’m not that big a fan of “Oz.” Curiously, I found it to be too cartoonish. I’d also be at a loss to list some good films in the past several years. Way too much garbage and talentless stars.

Ever seen the 1985 Disney film "Return to Oz?" I think it's a lot closer to the spirit of the Baum books, and this might be considered heresy by some, but I think Fairuza Balk is a better Dorothy than Judy Garland. Not that Garland was bad, but Balk just looked the part (being younger) and seemed to be less maudlin - Garland definitely cried a little too much for my tastes.

I hadn't seen a recent Ellison video in a long time (I used to watch his commentaries on Sci-Fi Buzz in the late 90s). I can tell age has taken a toll on him - his speech is more halting, his voice has gotten more hoarse, and he practically looks ancient.

Not a "Friend of Dorothy," eh?

Say what you will about Oz (I still would like to see one of the cable networks film all of Baum's Oz books), but if you dare say a bad word about "Meet Me in St. Louis," I will sic the Wilton Manors city council on you!
