Ditto! Plus everything is too damn loud, hell I can't even go to the movies anymore without a set of earplugs. It sucks when you start turning into an old fart, all these dang young whippersanppers with their loud music!
Is one of these an offshoot of the other?
Just kidding. I sometimes forget how old I am and need such reminders.
Rod Picott is pretty good, IMO.
Johnny Rivers, free July 4th concert, fantastic.
Does occasionally turning on my car radio count?
There are some really great music apps for our devices. TuneIn Radio is my favorite.
Nope, good for me. I love music, was raised in a musical family. I play the piano, love classical, semi-classical, opera, operettas, music of the forties and most country/western. I post frequently on the FR classical music thread.
I just don't like the "concerts" of today with good musicians but a cacaphony of lighting effects and hideous amplification which serves to hide the undistinguished, near-unlistenable, forgettable "music".
However, to each his own if one prefers the incredible noise, the undecipherable lyrics, the cookie-cutter gyrations of the band's "stars".....plus, if you're lucky, explosions here and there on the stage or a fainting or two in the front row.
When I go to a concert today it's at our very fine performing arts center where they still present music which transports one's brain, not distorts it.

Glad to hear it.
Yes, he is fantastic and criminally unknown. He's also one of the nicest guys who ever walked the face of the Earth. He and his former girlfriend, the talented and lovely Amanda Shires (now Mrs. Jason Isbell), performed a living room concert at our house a while back.
I saw Lang Lang play Rachmaninoff
Darius Rucker
Little Big Town
The Band Perry
Lady Antebellum
Luke Bryant
Miranda Lambert
and then for Christmas we saw the Virginia Symphony Pops Christmas Show. It was spectacular!
All those shows in the same bar in NYC, all from tables by the stage. I've almost settled down to a single venue, because they have great shows and I always get a table by the stage. They also let me video tape usually, I shot all the videos linked above.
Also saw Leo Moran & Anthony Thistlewait (of the Saw Doctors) and Bruce Springsteen at other venues.
George Strait in Little Roch, AR
Paul McCartney in Memphis, TN
Osmonds/Lennon Sisters Christmas Show in Branson, MO
Donny & Marie Christmas Show in Nashville, TN
Oh yeah, and Los Straightjackets! I’ll probably keep remembering other shows...
And Leonard Cohen - unbelievable show at MSG.
Ted Nugent, Styx, REO Speedwagon
Steely Dan
BB King/Peter Frampton
Eagles
Elton John
