I still get emotional about the JFK assassination 50 years later
Guardian (UK) ^ | Friday November 22, 2013 | Jesse Ventura

...The founders of this country had a vision of freedom and liberty that they tried to ensure for generations to come. They tried to design a democracy so full of checks and balances that it was bulletproof. So that no matter how many crooks managed to get themselves elected, the republic still prevailed.

There have even been a few brief shining moments when the real potential of that original vision took hold. One such moment was Franklin Roosevelt's presidency. A decimated work force that was shell-shocked from the Great Depression was struggling for its very survival. FDR came to the rescue with the New Deal, a program that redistributed wealth from Wall Street to workers who'd lost their jobs as a result of corporate greed and government corruption...

Another great moment was the presidency of John F Kennedy in the early 1960s. This time the world was reeling from the Cold War, and a military gone so mad with power and war-like policies... created a very real threat of nuclear annihilation...

...What are our elected officials hiding, 50 years later?

...They've looted the treasury, pulled the rug out from under the working middle class, and re-routed our country's resources back to the war machine and the wealthiest 1%.

On top of that, they've destroyed our Fourth Amendment rights, the Bill of Rights, and our basic civil liberties by spying on us. They continue to stand in the way of offering us one form of government-run health care while our tax dollars pay for their four separate options...

Let's give the 1% the big wake-up call that they truly deserve. There's a time for observing history and there's a time for making it. We can take back our country. And if we don't do it, nobody else will.

No need to read any further - this posted article is simply documenting the ravings of its ignorant, lunatic author.

A buddy of mine insists that getting killed was the best thing to happen to JFK's legacy. I tend to believe he's right.

He had bright spots too:

Largest tax cuts in history

Civil Rights Legislation

High Tech push (proposed and funded moon landings)

"Was JFK aware of any of this? Who knows."

If you're serious, this means his naïvete is of truly monumental proportions (and would demonstrate another example of his unfitness for office).

Do you know *all* of your spouse's secrets? *Everything* about his/her past? How about your kids? Do you know *any* of *their's*? And in the workplace..how about your boss...your peers...your subordinates?

No,I didn't think so.

Jesse and all the leftists believed in Camelot. It was the closest they have been able to get to the Marxist Paradise they all have been orgasmic about all these years.

“I still get emotional about the JFK assassination 50 years later”

I understand.

I still get emotional about a Philippina hooker I “knew” back in 1976.

That pretty much sums up what I was thinking. I couldn’t even read after that paragraph.

Corporate greed made people lose jobs? FDR saved us?

The man is a complete moron. So whatever ‘research’ he claims to have done doesn’t impress me in the slightest.

Perhaps the worst effect of the new internet age (probably only second to easy access to pornography) is that no matter how asinine and ignorant your opinion is, you can probably find like minded individuals or even whole organizations that believe the same idiotic uneducated opinions. You can ‘research’ all day long, all year long, but if you lack a bullshit meter, a tad of common sense, and a rudimentary understanding of REAL history and economics you might as well be firing up a crack pipe and wasting your brain that way.

I’m not married, and I know more than a few secrets about others, but I think you’re comparing apples and oranges.

For you to claim JFK was an innocent party while all these others were scheming to benefit his career is truly ludicrous. We know him well to be a moral degenerate and a user, and his associations with the very people that helped in the theft show he was no babe in the woods. The damage inflicted to the nation by the theft of the 1960 election and the policies that flowed forth to date is incalculable.

FDR and JFK were high points for the founders’ ideals?

...It was at that point that I knew for sure Jess had taken a few too many hits to the dome.

He was a big bag of wind, no matter how eloquent his scripted speeches were. He planned to put troops in Vietnam (so much for that idiotic claim by Ventura) after having spent his time in the Senate holding hearings about having military advisers and sending military aid to Indo-China. He spoke of “brush-fire wars” in reference to Vietnam, Korea, and dozens of other places, all to oppose the spread of Soviet and Red Chinese influence.

He was militantly anti-communist in his rhetoric, and chose to have his back surgery and be absent from the Senate when the condemnation vote was taken on Joe McCarthy (he couldn’t be seen voting either way on that one; had he voted to condemn, his constituents would have excoriated him; had he voted against, he’d have ended his plans to run for POTUS). He inherited the Bay of Pigs program, then basically screwed it up (no air support). The Bay of Pigs led to Castro’s and Khruschev’s putting Soviet missiles in Cuba, hence the missile crisis.

But he also wanted, campaigned for, and got Congress to pass, temporary tax cuts either identical or similar to those Reagan wanted and got 20 years later. He came at it from a different angle, that is, gov’t had a duty to stimulate the economy, rather than to get the gov’t the hell off all of our backs.

Still, as you said, there hasn’t be a worthy Demwit POTUS since JFK.

I was surprised no one had posted it, but it needed to be up, because it’s sure to draw the same-thinking nutjobs out of our woodwork around here.

As a political thinker and commentator, Jesse Ventura is a heck of a professional wrestler.

And pro-'rasslin's phony too.

While I’d agree that the Kennedy worship is mostly due to his having died young and the manner of his death, he did get tax cuts, push for civil rights (there was a taping system in his White House as well, and I’ve heard the preserved phone conversation between JFK and then-governor George Wallace), and started the US drive into the final frontier. He also campaigned on the missile gap, the bomber gap, and was anti-commie.

Imagine what he might have accomplished if he hadn’t spent 2 or 3 minutes five or six times a day getting some strange.

Jesse Ventura is a nut.
He was dropped on his head many times when he was a wrestler.
