Geez. I'm still trying to remember where I heard something about energy prices maybe having to skyrocket. Darned if I can rememb............... Wait. It just popped in. Our ever affable ROTUS, aka, the "lyin' king", said that. Guess he wasn't lyin' about that one. "If you like your electricity rates, you can keep your electricity rates. Nobody can take them away from you. Period." Lied about that. Uh, he said skyrocket, he said keep........... Keepin' the "rubes" confused for 5 years straight.

What’s so smart about that?
If the primary goal is to raise prices, why not just raise taxes and redistribute?

The “prog” liberals are taking us back to the Stone Age. Break out the torches and bonfires.

Well, that was the entire point of “smart” grids. And “smart” meters.
“You’re using too much electricity so we’re just going to help you adjust to lesser useage”.......and the lights and AC go out.

Unintended consequences will come into play as a result. Looks like it’s time for folks to start generating their own electricity and heat. Not for the eco-nazi’s benefit, but as a way of reducing cost and increasing redundancy.

--while I will no doubt get flamed for this, there is a lot of sense in utilities spreading power usage to off-peak hours , which should be obvious to anyone with the least bit of scientific or( or economic) background--
--and , btw, the utility from which my folk's farm received power fifty-odd years ago was already doing this --you were able to put the home water heater on a separate clock controlled circuit which only let it run off-peak--

Energy Department touts consumer empowerment: Research indicates that consumers are ready to engage with the Smart Grid as long as their interface with the Smart Grid is simple, accessible and in no way interferes with how they live their lives."So then what's the point of building appliances and AC that will be shut off during periods of high demand? Won't water heaters that don't heat water, AC units that don't cool houses, and dishwashers that refuse to start "interfere" with the way people live their lives?

And this by man who had the electricity up so high in the white house that people were sweating. His excuse? He was from Hawaii and felt the cold here.
It didn’t matter that he had been here many years and would have acclimated.
