She also pledged that she would NOT use her office to advance the homosexual agenda (a lie).
Sadly, she’s right. What Christians say and believe is irrelevant. Otherwise she would never have been elected.
I have many customers in NYC, SF, Boston and Chicago whom I assume have similar living arrangements, but none of them have been so interested in making them a topic of conversation as this Dallas local was.

Yep. There is a lot of out and out homosexual-ism in Dallas, TX. The rest of the Metroplex not so much but Dallas, yeah. Worked with many, male and female, and while some were decent folk others were walking billboards for miscreant sexual behavior.
Let me put it this way. I know who Phil Robertson is. I have no idea who Anise Parker is......
It shows up on her twitter account. Apparently she said it in passing to "Lone Star Q" LGBT blogger John Wright, during a telephone interview. He blogged about it but hasn't published the full text of the phone interview.
Her choice of words was wrong, offensive, and unfortunate. It sounds like she wasn't sure if she was going to brush the whole controversy aside, or use it to shore up her image in the gay community, or try to crush Robertson.
If Parker had been more measured and polite, though, she might be getting the same kind of responses, based not on her language but just on her (inevitably) taking the "gay" side in the controversy.
I’ve met her, at an event where also was the esteemed Sheila Jackson Lee. You could cut the stupid with a knife. Nothing but air between their ears.
Because Texas is conservative, and the opposite of those states.
And God calls Phil his son - one who isn’t ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Who’s verbiage would you rather have?
The election process for Mayor of Houston is structured to insure the election of a Democrat. It is scheduled for an off election year so there are no national elections occurring at the same time. It is deemed non-partisan so that on election day, when other significant positions and ballot initiatives are decided, there are multiple candidates to insure that no single candidate gets over 50%. This means there will be an run off election a month later.
All of this combines to insure that when the deciding vote actually occurs, the handpicked candidate of the state democrat party is the only one with resources sufficient to see the whole process through. The state democrat party will commit whatever resources are necessary to insure their candidate wins since this is perhaps the most significant elected position they can win in the state anymore.
In the larger picture though, the position of Houston mayor has dwindled in significance every year and really gains the Democrats very little other than locally.
Actually the political significance of the Houston mayor has shrunk quite a bit over the years. The real power in the area is wielded at the county level and that is controlled by the Republicans.
It is truly a shame that Houston has elected DEMOCRAT Mayors for the last I do not know how many years.

Houston has off-year elections and the turnout is miserable. This past November I think we had about 250,000 people vote in the Houston elections. This is totally insane and shameful.

Actually the political significance and power of the Houston mayoral position has shrunk so much that the politics of the holder is no big deal. Power is wielded at the country level and that is solidly conservative. The massive growth in the local economy stays just outside of the Houston city limits in places like the Woodlands, Humble, Kingwood, Katy and Pearland so that the city of Houston loses more control as the economy grows.
The last two Houston mayors, Bill White and Anise Parker, have been visible but politically insignificant. That's why Bill White got his butt spanked when he tried to run for a statewide office.
