Yep. At least I’m not alone.Either way, they win. Phil get reinstated and the show goes on after record Christmas sales, OR the family walks away, the show moves to syndication, in which case they still make money through royalty checks, possibly more than they normally make. I read once - it’s been years ago now - that Andy Griffith made his money not on the initial airing of the show, but on royalty rights through syndicating it to dozens of networks.
No, impugning the motives of a religious personality when there is no reason to, is.
By your standard, Nat Geo would have to be full of preppers.
I have compared the DD stuff to the DC stuff.....DC merchandize is classier. I bought DC stuff from my local Christian store.
I understand. Find out if they’ve removed Phil products from both DD and DC. If they have, they’re not being truthful.
Cracker Barrel itself says they’re continuing to sell products, but they’ve removed the Phil items pending further review. They can SAY they’re supporting the Robertsons while at the same time giving in. Both sides of their mouth and stuff.
Nat Geo probably employs more preppers than you’d guess. And I’m not “impugning” his motives. I admire the marketing move for its strategic value.
I've only been there once and I don't eat there, don't like the quality of the food so we've never been back.
In business, the truly successful owners spend a fair amount of time thinking and asking “What-if”.
I’ve always thought folks from the South, call them Rednecks, hillbillies or whatever you like, but they also spend a lot of time asking “what-if”. They can be extremely resourceful.
Here we have Phil, with a masters degree and strong Christian values and a very successful business. He has all the leverage and it’s not just the money. Their fans are very passionate and will support them.
I tend to think this “ploy” isn’t about the money.
I believe Phil actually wants to push the Christian message and senses this as an opportunity.
Interview with Terry Brashaw about what Phil was like in college. They also have had a show on one of the outdoor channels for years before Duck Dynasty. It is called Buck Commander. The beards may be a marketing ploy which I doubt since they have had them for years before the Duck Dynasty show but the hunting/fishing and God fearing family image is really who they are.
What's your substantiation for such a statement? Nat Geo has been largely rejected by the prepper community.
And Im not impugning his motives. I admire the marketing move for its strategic value.
Do you not know what "impugn" means?
To posit motivations other than those stated is "impugning," by definition.
One time I had a problem with my very simple order, which I endured and kept my mouth shut as my husband doesn’t like scenes in restaurants. Never got satisfaction, either. To top it off my generous husband left a tip for the idiot waiter.
Buck commander is just another brand that they are portraying an image to support. And it may be that the God-fearing side is really him. But I think he’s tapping into that rather strategically.
Where’s your substantiation for the idea that they don’t? I’m curious - do you have a breakdown of their employee base by lifestyle?
And it’s about time Bible believers take a stand. I’m not a Bible thumper or even a ‘religious’ person, but I believe. I’m sick of these ‘whatever’ they want to call themselves getting their way and pushing everyone else around.
I just phoned the local restaurant and emailed the Cracked Barrel chain to inform them, no matter what management may say, none of my family will ever visit any of their locations ever again. Pissed me off that they were one of the early sponsors to back off supporting Phil Robertson personally.
I sent them a note this morning that if they prefer to serve homos (2% of the population) rather than folk with moral and family values, I would spend my dollars elsewhere.
Getting real sick of all these businesses siding with sodomites.
Especially one like Cracker Barrel that advertises that they are an old fashioned family orientated restaurant. Turns out that talk is pretty cheap.
Truckers join the boycott.
NOOOOO!!! NOT THE HONKY-BUCKET TOO!!!
Did you watch the interview with Terry Bradshaw? Pretty much what he says about Phil in college is the Phil portrayed now unless he was just portraying an image in college so he could market Duck Dynasty when he was 67 years old.
