Ok I finally bought a Tv. Bought it through Amazon and took out Amazon Prime. So far not impressed, difficult to navigate through the DVD player with no way to input what I want. Not impressive films that I can see and the new films are charged to my account. I am on their free thirty day trial.
Input folks?
What do you use for streaming? I do plan on getting Netflix mailed to me, but what else is there out there. So far I have a Blue Ray HD player, a sound system and tv. Do I need to hook up computer too?
Your thoughts?

As you can tell, I am not prone to quick decisions. No impulse buyer me.
as I read through the thread I am not impressed with the Amazon Prime. The TV makes me very happy.
You sound like an impulse buyer.
Netflix is ok but their selection is limited.
I like netflix. Look through their offerings and see if you see enough to enjoy. TRue of any service - look and see if enough programming is present.
Thanks to Netflix, I discovered the greatness of “Sherlock.”
For his birthday I got hubby a Sony DVD/BluRay with WiFi and ‘smart’ stuff even though he’s got a smart tv anyway and “Crackle” came with it.
Even though we use NetFlix, Crackle has a lot of good old stuff netFlix doesn’t carry and it’s free.
Every 15 minutes you watch a commercial but I love the old obscure shows.
I’ve rented a few movies from Amazon.
Hulu Plus is supposed to be good but I don’t watch enough movies to justify 2 accounts.
Hulu plus?

I like Amazon Prime, I watch old TV series.
Wife finds far more streaming stuff she wants to watch than I do. Seems the few things Netflix has that interested me were only on DVD.
I wonder if you can get subtitled foreign programming on your TV like through DramaFever and Viki?
That and they keep yanking the good movies I like to re-watch.
How much stuff comes with free Hulu these days?
I don’t watch TV. But I can highly recommend Netflix’s mail service. Been using it for several years. Their customer service is outstanding.
I’m on the two-at-a-time plan. I can watch all the movies I want for about $13/month. But I can’t have more than two movies at a time.
Turnaround for me is one day: Mail movie to them on Monday, get next movie on Wed. They send an email when they receive a movie from you and when they mail a movie to you.
Absolutely no complaints. Excellent value!
One bit of warning, however, as you get into the "streaming television" world, be it Amazon or Netflix or whoever. Even if you buy it, you don't "own" it. As website The Digital Bits reported earlier this month:
Purchased Digital Content will generally continue to be available to you for download or streaming from the Service, as applicable, but may become unavailable due to potential content provider licensing restrictions and for other reasons, and Amazon will not be liable to you if Purchased Digital Content becomes unavailable for further download or streaming.Bottom line: When you buy digital content, youre not really buying anything concrete and your access can be denied at any time, for any number of reasons. This kind of thing has been a problem before and it will absolutely be a problem again. Caveat emptor.
Get a Roku for Netflix streaming and I Heart Radio. You can also get Beck TV for $10/mo. and a bunch of other “channels.”
Get a machine with WiDi, NetGear P2TV, then the world will be your oyster.

No am I supposed to be?
I have Netflix and Amazon Prime streaming. I like them both.
No, they aren’t going to have everything you would like to watch, but they have a nice selection and the two services somewhat compliment one another — what one doesn’t have, the other one sometimes will.
Both interfaces could be improved to make searching for movies easier, but I have noted that both are steadily improving.
Having the BluRay player and/or TV connected to your home network opens a lot of possibilities for streaming. I would do that right away.
