It cannot get what it needs from soil depletion, pesticides, antibiotics that kill the cows and infect the milk. We live in a time that has never existed before.

We are bombarded with more toxins than DOANS has pills. Our body needs help. Besides after 30 we are not much good at digesting food.

YOU ARE WHAT YOU DIGEST!

Even for my slipped disc, the doctor recommended over the counter Naproxen Sodium instead of a narcotic (which worked)

That's because narcotics only reduce the pain (not an insignificant benefit when used on a temporary basis) without affecting the underlying cause. Naproxen is an anti-inflammatory drug in the same class as aspirin and ibuprofen.

Another useful class of drugs for back trouble is muscle relaxants, but they are prescription-only in the USA. In Canada there are two over-the-counter muscle relaxants that are a godsend when my back flares up; the brand names are Robax and Parafan Forte.

I have heard that taking a lot of vitamins can have deleterious effects on your immune system. I have nothing to back this up, though. Anyone know a source?

As a nursing mother (third time around) I don’t know what I’d do without supplements. I mean that literally. Without my Alive multi, super B complex, and D3, I’d probably be in the psych ward. I can actually feel the B complex kicking in. After back-to-back mastitis, I’ve started swallowing two raw cloves of garlic/day. No problems since then, which antibiotics couldn’t cure.

I take a multi-vitamin, Glucosamine Condroitin, saw palmetto, one aspirin; 50 mg DHEA, and Vitamin D3 every day.

Some people this stuff doesn't help, but based on my experience; it works.

My online vitamin store has sent me stuff before on how Congress was pondering really restricting what people could order (for our own good of course). I use stuff that I know works. I've done my own research and I can tell the difference . . with and without.

But I think certain supplements especially vitamin D, can be absolutely essential.

I think so too. I added Vit D3 to my list a year ago and I have not had a cold since. I attribute my good health at 80 to knowing how to take vitamins. Vit.C is primary, and E w/Selenium is needed as anti-oxidant and heart health. D3 has been a happy addition especially in the winter months.
