“Loved him in My Favorite Year, where he played a parody of himself”
Could have been of himself. The way I heard it, it was a parody of Errol Flynn.
Oh I know! Totally out for himself.
Alec Guinness, of course in Lawrence too, was also good in that. Love the ending scene to movie...finally found on YT the other day. Just need to get up on FR page. It’s one of my favourites. So beautiful:

Alec Guinness is actually the narrator for the entire movie. He is also the secret protector of Yuri all the way through. He was the “Hidden Star” of Dr. Zhivago. here is one of the most poignant lines in the movie:
Lara is “forgotten as a nameless number on a list which was later mislaid.
The Book had more, but I think it was edited just right.
Rest in peace. You were a legend in your own time.
The best scene in Zhivago was Klaus Kinski on the train...
“I am the only free man on this train! And the rest of you are CATTLE!”
Wonderful clip! Thanks for posting.
Oh Yes!
I remember that too!
That movie was the “soundtrack” of my adolescence!
that was on US network TBN other night One night with the King
OHHH I remember he was in Tudors I forgot about it
Very convincing as the Pope
I don’t own a lot of movies, but I saw “Becket” for the first time about a year ago, and it is one of them.
Lawrence of Arabia is a great film because there are zero female speaking parts, so it all makes sense.
God speed, sir. You’re performance in The Lion In Winter was masterful.
Yep, I think he played Paul III....not quite historically accurate, but good all the same, LOL.
You beat me to it. I was going to say that line was my favorite quote: Im not an ACTOR, Im a movie star.
It is on Netflix too. Amazing performances.
More, please!
About O’Toole? We had put on an evening honoring him at a Club we were members of. He brought his son along who was also very nice as I remember. All I can say is that he was charming and kind. He went off with my husband for an evening of drink and they ended up talking about show biz and eating hamburgers. My husband as of today said he couldn’t remember some of the details due to the alcohol consumption. I also have an English friend who was in a rep company with O’Toole in the late 50s - pre-Lawrence (and I’m afraid) pre-nose job! He adored and revered him, too. Apparently, the great Pete didn’t make too many enemies!
Compare that with the news coming out about Shirley MacClaine!
Actually, a parody of Errol Flynn but he was, indeed, a wonderful actor.
I saw the Tudors when first came on Showtime I watch to the end yeah it was full of it at certain times
Yeah he was good he did play Paul 3
Correct.
