NOOOO!
I’ve been using Winamp since 96. It’s been with me from high school through college, grad school, and now I have to find something new?
*sob*
Of course from the thread title alone some ‘older’ folks like me might ask what the hell is a Winamp?
cat file.sound > /dev/audio
That's all you need.

One should never, ever load Real Player on your computer.
One should never, ever load Media Monkey on your computer.
In the 90s , i used Real player, free version. Bought the
upgrade and got the “record” button with it. The original
version looked like the front of a chrome car radio sort of.
About a year later after paying for it , Real updated to
a new version and radio stations upgraded as well making
the older version obsolete. Somewhere in the mix - the
“record” button disappeared. I think i paid for a new upgrade a second time and I called them and asked why the upgrade when the one they had was already near perfect.
Lady said that there were new features and i said i paid for one (or two?) already and i will no longer be buying their product. Looking around at the software world, i realized the scam system becoming prevalent.
AOL, killing things off since Netscape.
So, for archival purposes, what should be downloaded and stored for future references, in addition to the player?
That is, plug ins, visualizations, skins, anything else?
Hmmmm, five point 666...rather ominous final version, eh?
Thanks for the link.
