I f’ing hate these new bulbs. They feel like they suck your soul out of your body.

I'm gonna miss my 100w-200w-300w mogul-base 3-way. I'm completely resigned to it.

(And I used it to heat my apartment in college).

"I f’ing hate these new bulbs. They feel like they suck your soul out of your body."

It's not your imagination.

The CFC bulbs emit a strobe like flicker that can cause all kinds of serious adverse health reactions.

Three years ago our house was rebuilt after a fire. All the fixtures were "modernized." I started almost immediately to get headaches and nervous irritability.

After switching out the bulbs where possible and replacing the "modern" fixtures with some antiques, it's all better now.

I'm buying every 40 & 60 watt bulb I can get my hands on.

I had a dear friend that had a photosensitivity disorder where certain lighting conditions would cause her to have seizures... It was rough... just going for a drive with the sun flickering through the trees would set it off.

One time I took her over to see where I used to live and I totally forgot that my former roommate thought he was so environmentally conscientious by putting CFLs in every single fixture in the house. This is the same dude who routinely would fall asleep on Friday nights with every lightbulb and TV in the house going... along with a McIntosh 240 tube amp playing away...

She could not be near the light of CFLs... and I understand it because the light they give off makes my stomach turn and I don’t have any sort of siezure disorder. LED Christmas lights bother me as well because I can discern the 60 Hertz flicker... especially when travellinging in a vehicle past them.

Oh and the newfangled blue LED lights used on lightbars or car cars are disorienting... I believe that is by design, like those “puke lights” they have for crowd control.

Anyways... I refuse to use CFLs. I will sooner use an old kerosene railroad lantern to read by.

Sorry. I posted “CFC” should have been “CFL.”

(I still haven’t gotten over the way they screwed with my asthma inhaler.)

Ya. And they have mercury too. They pulled mercury thermometers off of the shelves and they force these things on us.

I’m so angry about this. The claim that the LED bulbs last for years is a lie. You fork out fifteen or twenty bucks for one and it burns out on a few months. I can’t afford that. They do want us broke, cold, and in the dark.

The new LEDs are finally good. Warm light, use less energy, last 20 years, but still somewhat pricey.

Kobi Electric LED 15-Watt (75-Watt) A19 Warm White Light

GE Lighting 63011 Energy Smart LED 3-Watt (15-watt replacement) 120-Lumen A15 Light Bulb with Medium Base, 1-Pack

I'm installing them as bulbs burn out. It feels good to know it's the last time I'll change the bulb (at least at my age!).

But I still have a stash of 60 watt incandescents! (LOL!)

I have 400+ of incandescent 40/60/75/100 watt bulbs and potlights in my basement “stores”, bought over the past 2-3yrs on weekly supermarket/hardware store shopping trips.

Pick up the Cree LED bulbs sold at Home Depot. Be sure to get the 2700K 60 watt bulbs. Just bought 6 and will be buying more. They are just about indistinguishable from incandescent, are instant on and dim. At 12 a bulb they are a pretty good deal. I could live with these, especially if they make different sizes and 3-ways.
