Thanks. You are right - I am 63, near-sighted, and those headlights are just nasty for people like me.
Let me guess. The voltage wasn't marked, or it was something like 140V.
This will wind up like Prohibition with incandescent bulbs smuggled in from off shore. George Bush needs a kick in the pants for signing off on this

The compact fluorescent bulbs we get in the States take forever to come on and get to “full” (dim yellow) brightness. We have some in Belize that light immediately with a full, white light.
I detest the ones we get here.
Sad about the headaches. Perhaps a frequency issue. This is what we get when we have a bunch of nit wits dictating how we live our lives. Merry Christmas FReeper. Great screen name.
Perhaps the cycling is the issue. I use yellow spectrum CFLs in normal room lighting, exterior lighting, and and bucket lights. I have had some failures. The vast majority of my CFL lights are 3 + years old and are working fine. I have some yellow spectrum LED lights in some master bath bucket lights and hopefully they will last for the rest of my life. They are pricey but the prices are dropping. I think the LEDs will take over eventually.
Are they considered "specialities" and will they be exempt from the law?

Might want to take a look here.
Yeah, those headlights are brutal, practically blinding to oncoming drivers - I hate them.
A friend of mine told me that there is a market for burned out light bulbs, which are sold on the street, in Lithuania.
You take your burned out bulbs to work and use them to replace good bulbs that you take home to use.
Thanks for the information...also for reminding me they are CFLs, not CFCs.
So you’re into it!
I was designing LEDs into circuit boards back in the 80’s. But I haven’t followed the technology too closely in recent years.
What other toys are you playing with now? ;-)
What brand?
The bulbs I bought at $1.67 were the EcoSmart 100W Equivalent Daylight (5000K) Twister CFL Light Bulb (4-Pack). I checked on Home Depot’s website and they are now at $11.94. Quite a jump in price from $1.67!
No problem. Merry Christmas.
Pick up the Cree LED bulbs sold at Home Depot. Be sure to get the 2700K 60 watt bulbs. Just bought 6 and will be buying more. They are just about indistinguishable from incandescent, are instant on and dim. At 12 a bulb they are a pretty good deal. I could live with these, especially if they make different sizes and 3-ways.
