“Styrofoam packing peanuts contain toxic chemicals.”

Hmm, does anyone think the toxic chemicals would leach into the soil/plant?

That concern was why I included it. I wonder if that’s an additional reason why it isn’t landfill material. Will look up absorption, routes, etc.

Maybe, but if you look closely at the 'soil' in some greenhouse plants, it contains tiny bits of this stuff.

If you are concerned, I would take a bag of the peanuts, and leave it out in HOT sun, which will bake off volatiles. When it stinks not so much, you will have gotten rid of the lingering monomers and other smaller molecules. The polymer is too huge to be absorbed, most likely.

Wife and I are both still sick, even worse. I think we are both going to see Dr Kyle S. in the morning. I wanted to loose weight, but not like this. Haven’t eaten very much since last Tuesday, and cant keep anything down. Bet I’ve lost 5lbs. Chest is full of boiling goop. We are both coughing and gagging.

This is not helping any, either:

Waded through NIH and DSMS materials last night and it appears that I should pursue this plastic peanut business. They have information on inhalation, but not certain if that’s for a manufacturing facility. Will keep looking and update y’all.
