Boeing machinists reject “best and final” labor deal for 777X

Almost exactly one month ago we looked at the hissy fit being thrown by the machinists union at Boeing and how they appeared to be forcing the biggest employer in their area to look to Right to Work states when they start building the new 777X. (This led to Seattle’s newest elected socialist calling for armed revolt.) Apparently somebody at the union office didn’t get the memo that Boeing was serious, because when their employer came back with an even more generous offer, they turned up their noses again.

Not sure if this is a re-hash of the story from last month or a newer recent offer by Boeing to the union lunk heads. If it's new and they rejected it, I'd "hostess" their dumb butts and move on. (It's not like there won't still be work for them in seattle. At least for a short while anyway.)

Maybe they looked at their total bottom line and determined that unemployment insurance, strike compensation, foodstamps, welfare, Obamaphones, free government healthcare, union pensions, and other government handouts, all would add up to make it worthwhile not to work any more and just allow the 777 production to go elsewhere.

Yesterday it sounds like the machinists made a counter offer to the original deal. Boeing rejected and made a counter counter offer, which they said was their final offer. It sounds like that offer was rejected by union leadership without a vote, even though it had guarantees of work in the Seattle area for 16 years. Sounds like it covered both 777-x and the 737 MAX.

Boeing needs to move that entire plant to SC, and close the plant down in the Seattle Socialist Enclave.

Unions are irrational. They are like government in one respect.... left unchecked, both of them kill their host.

I have predicted before that Boeing will be leaving WA State completely. I remember when the economy was blowing up and these guys went on strike. I thought they were total idiots. During that time, the governor of WA was Christine Gregoire and she appeared on the picket line with the Boeing strikers. I read afterward that, that action really ticked off the Boeing management and they took their main offices and have relocated them in Chicago.

If you are Boeing, why put up with the shutting down of production lines, every few years, because of some union thugs? Go to a RTW state. And if they do, it will be because of the actions of the unions.

Boeing moved their corporate offices to Chicago because they said that was the HQ of their biggest customer. The real reason was the new Boeing CEO’s wife didn’t want to move to Seattle from Chicago.

I had actually heard that she wanted to live in Chicago because they have a great opera company. Don’t know how true that is.
