A number 2 pencil, number 2, always number 2. Has anyone ever seen a #1 or #3 pencil? Do they even exist?

I did too. I kept waiting for a punch line. This guy claims to have a pencil sharpening business and ships pencils all over the world. Who would pay money to have somebody sharpen their pencil and then wait for it to be shipped back?

Wow. The guy actually sharpens pencils for a living, and he hasn’t lost his sense of humor. His web site is a real kick, too:

“I guarantee an authentic interaction with your pencil.”
“Traditionally people mail in their pencils to be sharpened; however David now offers a new service: He will provide the pencil”

I remember using #3 and #4 pencils in mechanical drawing classes in high school. They were progressively harder. I also see an occasional #2.5 pencil, just a little harder then we are used to!

Is it my imagination or are today's pencils garbage? The graphite core is not centered in the middle of the pencil so the sharpeners leave them with an off-center tip that breaks easily. And the erasers! Smearers would be a better name and after a few months, they get hard as a rock. Recently found a box of pencils in an old desk. They were from the 60s. Work great. Sharpen up to a keen center point and the erasers really work.

I can’t get it back,
5 minute point and I am done.
