Cher told her fans on Wednesday that she does not celebrate Thanksgiving. In fact, she appears to deplore the American holiday, calling in the “beginning of a great crime.” Cher said that the American settlers were guilty of taking land from native Americans who had no concept of property ownership and also intentionally infected them with smallpox.

“You don’t celebrate the holiday I thought?” a fan asked Cher.

“I DON’T,” Cher replied emphatically. She said that, to her, Thanksgiving is a day to see family, eat food together and watch a movie. “Not 2 celebrate the beginning of a GREAT Crime.”

When asked why she believed this by another fan, Cher explained: “Stealing Land, from a ppl, Who believed, Owning Land Was LIke Owning SKY!”

“We gave them Blankets laced w/ Smallpox,” Cher concluded.

I don’t think she’s a native American.

Cher lives on hundreds of acres of stolen land.

She refuses to give her land to the natives.

Four of my grandchildren are of Cherokee descent. They are not exploiting their ancestry in ant way.
That story about our giving the Indians blankets contaminated with smallpox has shown up so often researchers literally cannot pin down it’s true origin. It is said to predate the French and Indian wars, which might just mean the idea was French. It is, without question, America’s earliest urban legend.

The primary motivation for a Liberal is to:

1) Do what conservatives don’t do
2) Don’t do what conservatives do

They don’t come up with anything on their own. All they know to do is rebel.

She's a native American. Why should Thanksgiving be anything but a day of mourning for native Americans?

Even if Europeans had never come to North America, the idyllic aboriginal lifestyle of the Native Americans was doomed.

It may have taken another hundred years, but eventually, internal wars or invasion by other foreign populations would have forced change upon them - almost none of it good.

I'm about a third Native American myself, and my birth certificate says that I'm negro, but I don't sit and ponder the worst aspects of this culture and its history on every national holiday. In fact, I've led a pretty good life, compared to what it might have been, had my white ancestors never set foot upon this continent.

Cher looks like her face was mangled in a car accident..luckily by the way she’s going, she already has one foot in the grave. I feel bad for Chastity, no wonder she turned out the way she did, Sonny is turning over in his grave, repeatedly

The native americans were mistreated but not anymore. Amends were made. I nor my ancestors had any involvement in any abuses.

Nevertheless, I don’t like people like Cher lecturing me on past misdeeds, by this country or any other. The world is full of misdeeds and wrongs.

Cher is a red diaper doper baby.

She did that song “Gypsies, Tramps, and Thieves,” sympathizing with the plight of “half-breeds.” But I suspect that she was considered “hot” back in her school days, and that the “half-breed” thing worked for her, not against her. It certainly didn’t prevent her from becoming rich. Actually, maybe that explains her present posturing - guilt about being rich.

Actually, there was another song called "Half Breed" that she did.

“Why should Thanksgiving be anything but a day of mourning for native Americans?”

That’s retarded and flies in the face of the meaning of thanksgiving. Why would an Indian mourn Thanksgiving? That makes no sense.

Well, for openers, it was the paleface who rescued them from their squalor by teaching them about casinos. If it weren’t for slot machines, they’d still be sitting in the dirt.

““an Armenian refugee”, (from what?),”

From the famous moslem Turkish genocide?

Why should Thanksgiving be anything but a day of mourning for native Americans.

Please. This whole premise is absurd. Thanksgiving is a day of giving thanks to God. Who is so wretched and depraved that they can't find something to be thankful for. Oh, and it has nothing at all to do with Indians. They can be thankful too if they want to but if they don't, fine. Their privilege in a free country.
